Im a proud owner of an explorer xs. I love it on the beach! But I seam to have a problem when I hunt in sandboxes. I cant get closer then 2.5 to 3 feet of the poles or the concrete shore whith out geting a masking signal. I need help because this was my most productive area with my other machines? Thanks Dolf

Dolf, I was having the same problem when detecting around playground equipment. What I do is turn down the sensitivity to around 1 or 2, and go slow. I also use the 5 or 8-inch coil. You will still get targets down to 6 inches. Hope this helps.

Hi Jerry and thanks for your response. Ive tried downing sens and gain but still no luck. It appeares that I have to go to a smaller coil such as a 5" in order to hunt this area in parks. My question, who sells a good and resonable 5" coil for the explorer? that gives a stable and sturdy performance.

Sun-Ray makes the coils. I understand MineLab will have an 8-inch for sale soon here in the U.S., but I'm very happy with both my SunRay coils.
