how do you know its time to get re-tuned

do you guys just send in your machines to get re-tuned or do you wait for the machine to start acting funny?

SpiritRelic has the right of it in my opionion.
Hopefully you have a test garden or at least a couple of coins planted that you can test signals on. If the machine responds well and your not having other issues I would not send it in. The majority of detectors work great for many years without issue.
The great thing about Tesoro, besides having topnotch gear, is the warranty never runs out.

This seems like a time to chirp in. Yes we will retune the coil you use most often with your detector, if indeed you are having issues with it. Most of the time, its single issue of not being able to ground balance. The second most seen issue is when you have uncontrollable "chirping" sounds no matter how you change the controls. The first problem can be one of two problems. 1. Coil gets retuned to detector, or 2. the ground balance switch is cleaned or replaced.

I just purchased a Outlaw. It seems over sensitive to tall grass and very silt bumps to sticks causing the faint falsing. What do i do?
