How do you take Pictures without....

Buried Crap NJ

New member
I can't seem to take a picture of my finds to post for all to see without the flash blocking the coins?
Do you scan them in ? What gives. steve

Hi Buried,
Use natural light from a large picture window or a full spectrum bulb and forget the flash. Or if you just think you have to use a flash, do not take photos exactly perpendicular to the coin. Take photos at an angle so the flash does not come back at you. This will not be the best option. Here is what I do with smalls:

I take photos all the time of glass beads and I do it in a white 5 gallon bucket outside, the white bucket is semi translucent and diffuses the light. I cut a hole in the top of the bucket so I can stick the lens through it. A hole saw works great a little larger then the size of the lens.

Best Regards,
Steve

You need plenty of natural light. Wait a while if conditions don't give enough natural light.

If you zoom in on your subject then the camera is getting less light and will always fire the flash in low light conditions unless you manually over ride it.

You can still go macro (zoom in) but the camera must be very still otherwise it will blur. Try using a tripod as well.

Tony.
