How does the XP do in Shallow Water

JoshuaA

New member
I am considering getting a new detector and it's between the XP and 3030. I mostly hunt fresh water beaches/shallow water and tot lots as well as misc. areas. Has anyone done any shallow water hunting with their Deus? How did it perform? How is pinpointing?

Thanks

It doesn't. Subject has been coverered several times already but as soon as you more than a couple of inches of water above the search head it can't communicate. Modifications can be made to change that though.

Yes, other threads have discussed how to modify the rig to communicate with the headphones or control unit and it can be done for under $60 all told. What you have is a lightening fast detector that weighs under 2 pounds that will go wading all day long.

This thread covers some of the options available . . . . . http://www.findmall.com/read.php?83,1713055

There are links on how to make the antenna lead which will run you under $10 and about 15 minutes to fabricate. There will be a factory accessory later this year that does the same thing.

It is not a diver but you get the functionality of the Deus with a minimal additional investment

Let us know if this helps

Hi Andy - I would hope the factory accessory includes the "clip" that snaps onto the contacts where you charge the unit...
That would make it an easy solution.

With a proper antennae mod done and your remote protected in a good waterproof iPod pouch, you'll experience the most versatile fresh water hunter that could be dreamed up, with full controls at your fingertips

ground balance needs to be low .on foreshores it can be down to 3 or 5

the mod is a breaze to do with tie wraps and a small piece of cable
