How is the 8" ML coil on depth and performance?

Greetings all. Any input/feedback on the performance of the 8" Minelab coil? How is it on depth? I have one that I plan on using this year. I have read the posts on the other coils, Sunray, Excellerator, Coiltek etc.

I am primarily interested in this coil for now since I don't plan on purchasing any other 8" at this time. I'm planning on hunting wooded areas and some heavy trashy parks with my Explorer II.

Thanks in advance

I seem to be getting reasonable depth with it. Not much drop off from the stock coil.

You can run it hot and it is still very stable.

I would use the stock coil in the woods, unless it is very trashy. I use the small ML coil only in trashy areas. I works great.

I use the 8 inch sunray coil and I just love it in the woods. It moves around brush and weeds Real easy. HH

I have been using the ML 8 inch coil for over 75% of the 6 years I have owned my XS and it is great. For field hunting of course stay with the stock coil but for woods hunting, and trash hunting it is great. The ML 8 inch is equal in depth to my son's Fisher CZ70 and for what little you lose on the the depth from the stock coil is made up for in its manueverbility and great pinpointing.

Today was the first day I put on the SunRay 8".. and I'm lovin' it. Pulled a 1919 Wheatie and 1924 Merc. Very easy on the arm, pinpointing is great. I was digging targets deeper today then the other day with the stock coil, so I don't think depth is too big of an issue. Being able to pick targets in the trash.. that's a big issue. I'm even thinking about picking up the SunRay 5" for more of that trashy action.
