How is the deus for tall guys??

basstrackerman

Well-known member
Hello ive been reading alot about the deus also. Id love a lighter machine thats works well in iron. But im 6'4" and use tall mans rods on everything. Can i buy a tall man rod? Or is it already long enough? What is the weight of the 11" coil? Just curious how well balanced it is. I have some whites machines and been using etrac alot lately. But im a retired corrections officer and due to all the fighting in that hell my shoulders arent what they used to be. Any info would be super. Thanks

I'm between 6'2 and 3. I have the pole at the 1 and a half mark. Barely extended. The 11" coil is very well balanced and the whole "rig" is super light. Very easy to swing.

I was also an Etrac and CTX user. I dumped the CTX for the Deus. It was way too heavy and not well balanced. With the Deus I've found more silver earlier in the year than I ever have at the beginning of any of my past hunting seasons.

I'm 6 2" with short arms and I could use another inch. I use tall man rods on other detectors.

Perhaps there's a dealer or member close to you that can let you try it in person.
I'm 6-4 and have no issues with mine. For reference my shirt sleeve is a 34-35 if that helps or you just want to buy me a Ralph Lauren. Lol
Seriously, the Deus is so light and balanced that even if you have a different swing angle than you're used to with the other machines you mentioned, you won't notice or mind. The whole experience is pleasant and I find that even with the lower rod not completely extended I get the feel right.
Good luck!
Cheers

My arms are very long also and I have plenty of lower rod to spare. I had used tall man rods on my Etrac, but no need on the Deus. I't no where near extended all the way out so there is no "flop". It's good and solid.

I'm 5-10 and have started using the pole at the 2" mark. Just seems more comfy to have it a bit longer. The machine is the lightest I have ever used, I came from a F75se which I though was super light until I swung a Deus. I extended the rod all the way out last night to clean it, and I almost hit my wife with it in the other room. lol
