How long have you guys been using the etrac?

All of you posting how great it is? did you get pre-released models or something? it only came out the 29th right? Just seems odd you can state its the greatest.. I know when I started using my Explorer it took me a few months before I could come to any conclusion it was that much better than the Sovereign I used 4 years before that... So you guys are ready to put the explorer to bed, and just use the etrac as your only detector now? I sold off my Sovereigns after coming to the conclusion that they could not do nothing the explorer cant.. which is what I consider a new and better machine... Not one that can do some things better but other things worse.. I have one on the way... and would like to sell off one or both explorer to get some of the money I paid for this one back if it can truly out perform the explorer in every way.. but I think I will give it a few months before deciding.. just wonder if you guys had more time than anyone else to come to this conclusion so quickly...

I know when I started using my Explorer it took me a few months before I could come to any conclusion it was that much better than the Sovereign .

And it took me about 30 minutes to suspect, and 8 hours to confirm it could run rings around my XLT so what does that tell you? Its one very different machine from Explorers XLTs etc etc.

The Model A quote was funny! The 8088 was an Intel chip - IBM stupidly didn't put their own processor in the PC - I worked for IBM at the time and it was one of their typical boneheaded moves. I suspect the Exp to E-Trac is more like the diff between a 386 and a 486 or maybe 486 and Pentium - but good analogy. Wish we knew the actual processors and their clock speeds.

I owned the original Explorer XS but found it far to slow to recovery after rejecting iron, it gave to many false signals, and was very heavy on the arm after a couple of hours detecting, however without any doubt this was the best machine I have ever used for depth even on heavy mineralised ground.

Due to the above I traded it in after six months for a Whites XLT as this suited my style of detecting which is mainly on ploughed fields hunting for medieval, Saxon and Roman coins or artifacts.
I gave the Explorer II a try as I really missed the extra depth you get from the FBS technology, but didn't buy because I couldn't see any appreciable improvement over the original Explorer XS machine, other than the build quality of the stem locks had been improved.

Some time later I had a go with my friends Explorer SE as he was having some success with it, I could see straight away this was certainly a faster and more stable machine than the previous models.
Ar round the middle of August I was considering purchasing the Whites DFX but after trying one out I came to the conclusion that there was not enough difference between the DFX and my XLT and the depth had not improved compared to the ML FBS technology.

On the August 28th I just happened to call in at TreasureLand in Leicester for a look at the DFX 300 with the larger coil package, The boss brought out a sealed Minelab box and asked if I would like a look at a brand new machine just about to be released in the UK.

After assembling it together and testing it for 30 minutes I asked the question, go on then how much? well after I picked myself up off the floor I now had a real dilemma because I really did like this machine, it was so easy to use and gave good results straight out of the box, I could see straight away that this was not an Explorer but had the same excellent depth as one, but at
