Found this old "merc" at an old beach at low tide... ? 1931, but not sure.

This was my silver take of the day.

it, but I was able to chip the thick crust off , and what you see in the pic is just a mild coat of tarnish which I think will be removed quickly with electrolysis and warm water /soda bicarbonate light scrub.

I never tried the sand method; interesting info; I think I will the next time I find a silver coin just to see what happens.
