I was in GPAA gold club for about 20 years. I love to dredge, and sluice. I still have about 5oz of gold i have dredged. All the gold here is small but alot of it.

Best to live where the gold is to make it worth while.
Read an article about a guy in New York City that scraped the cracks in the sidewalks out and took the gunk home and panned it out for lost jewels and precious metals.

I’ve never actually done it myself, but I think it would be a great addition to the forums.
As a child, I often dreamed of panning for gold, though there aren't any great prospecting areas around here.
Still, I’m toying with the idea of having some "paydirt" delivered and giving it a try after all.
I would welcome it if you set up a prospecting forum.

There is already a "Prospecting" topic on this forum. Maybe it can be expanded or highlighted more than just putting it in air quotes by including detector prospecting, panning, sluicing, high banking, dredging, etc.

I've enjoyed paydirt in the past.
Paned and sluiced here in Ohio.
Not much to show for the labor.
Though it was fun seeing the gold.

Paydirt at today's prices I'm not sure.

Here's some of the best today.
Be certain to CK reviews.
You never break even.
Though some can be close.

And pan over a pan.
You'll never get it all the first time.
Especially if it's fines.

I do both guvner. Currently in Wyoming doing some testing on my dry sluice. Thanks for asking. I think a panning/sluicing/etc forum would be a good addition.

Vido, I prospect in Ohio, I live in Ky. If you live in Ohio there is alot of glacier gold in small creeks. How far do you live from Columbus Ohio? I lived there for about 30 years, and when i retired i moved to Kentucky. I might be going back to Columbus before long. I can show you some nice gold up there. flintstone

One thing about buying pay dirt, you need to know where it comes from. The gold in Ohio is 22 to 23% pure, some places it is only 17 to 18% gold, it is mixed with iron in the ground or other metal that is in the ground. Just like metal detecting if you live with a lot of iron in the ground, you got to trun down your detector.

Yes, there IS a lot of iron in where I live.
If I were to order something, I would do it from Nebraska, because I would like to support the dealer there.
However, since shipping costs, import duties, and other fees are currently very high, it is simply too expensive.
But that will surely change again.

I live in an area where gold is present in various quantities in almost all areas but the vital ingredient for extracting it is missing ,,,water. Desert prospecting is a whole different game involving dry washers , dry panning and detectors which can be very effecting if used correctly but "paydirt" is still an option. I at one time would haul enough water in to run a recirculating sluice system looking for a potential pay streak and then haul buckets of dirt out to a water source for processing. One fortunate weekend , a load of 40 buckets and flattened rear pickup springs yield 10 ounces chrystaline 23k stuff like in my avatar.
