how to find gold with 250 or 350 ?

Hello all...I now use the 350...have never landed gold. I_ve got bad knees to I notch out the trash gold icons.....I know I know that's prob why I've never landed gold but is it really ? Can gold show up as anything else on the 350 ? Or shuud I start diggin all the trash gold hits ? I once did that but sheeeeeesh its always trash. Any advice as to what mode and what to notch out. I usually hunt in jewlery mode notching out iron foil and trash (gold).

In trashy areas, I set up the Customs mode like the Jewelry mode except I notch out the two tab icons. That way I have several chances to find a gold ring without all the tabs-foil, nickel, and zinc penny. Otherwise, I set up in Relics mode and have many chances to find a gold ring. The Ace has special tonal characteristics, also. If things get too noisy or I get too tired I ignore the short blip signals, which are usually small foil or pieces or tabs. I may be wrong, but I believe Garrett's nickel notch is inclusive of a lot of large foil pieces-which explains why I've found several gold rings in the nickel notch. But the 10k rings fall in the foil zone..

That's interesting.....so if I hear short bleeps in foil its prob foil and solid bleeps in foil I shud dig ? So I'm assuming u notch out iron also ? That's interesting. Ill start hunting in relics mode I suppose....thanks :y

Notch out up to iron nails and did everything else.
Gold can show up from just past small iron but before foil all the way up to high nickle for the larger items. Some large gold rings can appear in the middle sil zone.
Gold chains can be in the low iron range (first notch)
So the only way to find the most gold is to dig everthing.
Probably about 85% of the gold jewellery I have found has been in the foil range. with the large high kt rings being up around nickle.or higher.

Wow that's amazing really ? I'm so glad I posted this question....so foil and nickle and up...so most gold doesn't come under the gold notches ? Interesting. Thanks

If you get into a tot lot where the diggin's just a matter of raking aside the bark chips or pebbles, go to a.m. mode and you may even find some gold earrings-have the "boop" sound and may register as iron.

A.M.= all metal- or zero disc also can mean pinpoint(to some). Some machines have all metal non motion, some have all metal motion. On most digital machines where all notches are accepted, one could say its all metal mode. What I know for shure the more I dig the lucker I get. small gold rings= foil to & including just above 5 cents. Med gold= tab range, large rings= coin range. Platinum lower than gold of same size. White gold a bit lower than yellow gold of same size. Most gold chains =5c down into top edge of iron range.

you guys got any tips on finding gold with the double D coil i need to find a ring so i can buy a sniper coil

Great winter conversation! Now that we have the signals established, you can start thinking strategically as you approach a hunting spot. If you have bad knees, and cant get up and down a lot, hit the chip totlots. An easy sweep of your foot reveals what went "beep" and theres gold in those totters. Mainly small 10-14k womens rings, so think about where in the totlot a woman would be either taking off gloves, pushing a kid on a swing, etc. and listening for foil/nickle. Watch for stroller tracks everywhere, you can see them on the grass in soccerfields, the beach of course, and they usually take the path of least resistance from the parking areas. Watch without being creepy how women respond in certain situations in totlots. For instance, over on the baby swings, they will ALWAYS be facing their child as they push the kid in a swing, just so they can see their babys face, so where will the ring be that got caught in the chain and tossed off? Probably behind and off to one side. there will always be a location where they prefer to sit and watch the kids, there will always be some sort of horizontal bench or whatever would be easy to change a baby diaper on, etc. On almost all of these forums theres certain hunters that go for the gold, you watch their posts, and learn that way too. Even if they do not swing your particular brand of machine, you want to learn from them all...If you think gold hard enough, and approach each area with those thoughts in mind, you will find some eventually. Perhaps even today or tomorrow? Good Luck

Great posts ! Thanks thanks ! Yeah I figured the reason I have never found gold is due to me notchin out the tab gold notches....I'm seeing now that isn't the case. I'm gonna start goin all metal in tot lots and relic mode everywhere else notchin out iron and tab icons. If anyone else wants to chime in here feel free to leave a comment. Thanks !

Good luck finding gold. I had began to think I would never experience this but have been blessed in the last 4-5 weeks. HH.

What tone are you getting for gold? Should be the coins tone, several dings if I remember correctly. It's been 4 months since I found gold, but the tone is what got my attention. It wasn't just the single ding for some trash like bottle caps but several consecutive like for a coin.

Thanks grumpy....was that solid ding under the gold tab notches or the coin notches ? That's what I'm tryin to figure out.....if gold is only found under the gold notches on thr 350 or 250...thanks

Ya know, it's been a while and I'm not sure. It was a ring. I wasn't looking at the display. All I know is hearing the several dings. I hadn't heard that much at the time. If I had the ring, sold it, I'd check how it displays.
