How to repair battery problem with Mark 1 or Mark 3

This is how I repaired the battery problem on my Mark 3.I changed it to AAA batteries.
The decales on the meter is wrong I changed them .The all metal is on the left.

But why didn't you use Li-Ion batteries?
More power in less space.
