How well does the 705 seperate nickels from aluminum?

bugg

Do you have to dig alot of aluminum crud to get nickels , or does the machine seperate them well?
My safari does a very good job with nickels, but the darn thing keeps getting heavier every year!

I would think different coils might do different things. I have found a bunch of Nickles with my hf coil. All coins for me usually hit hard and pretty consistent numbers.

My nickle to aluminum ratio is better than 50/50,usually get a good solid single tone/tid for a nickle, ...don't keep track of aluminum, but its been 289 nickles since my last gold ring and still digging ....

Same with mine, nickles tend to be very consistent tid number, aluminum tends to give
Jumpy tid numbers.

Depends on coil choice. HF coils have a larger segment for nickels than the MF and LF coils. So, the 18.75khz coils will hit harder and lock better than the 7.5 or 3khz coils. It still hits silver just fine for me.

I have both the Safari and the XT-70 and with a HF coil on the XT-70, it will hit on nickels better than the Safari does. While I'd rate them about even, if using the MF coil on the XT-70 and having cut the Safari's sensitivity back to (15) to best find nickels.

I agree with Turnmaster, I use the 9in hf coil and it works well with nickles and surprising with silver stuff. Some deeps will be a little i.d jumpy but the sound is always solid.

I had an Xterra 705 before upgrading to an ETrac....

I am 'obsessive compulsive' and can say I pretty much 'OWNED' the 705 from the 20+ hours a day I put on it.

I sold my 705 on Ebay after I upgraded and... if set right... you can get the TDI perfect to discriminate between junk and coins...

...alum and nickels... AND more!

Especially with each of the coils and their frequencies....

Like a different detector with each coil.....

Here is my demo video... I'd put the 705 up against any detector under $1000...

period....

..it's SOOO under rated

I believe that my 705 gold is one of the best nickel machines that I have used. The HF Coil is probably the major reason. I have found that I use the tones to differentiate between nickels and trash with the same TID. The nickel gives a much better tone and the trash will be kind of scratchy. The TID is more stable. I have not used any other coils yet with my 705 but with the 10 X 5 HF it is a nickle beast and a tone monster. Love this machine !!!!
