hiya lads,,does your g.t. make strange howlin sounds when the batteries are low??? mine does a sort of high pitche whooap, every so often,,,i checked the voltage and it measured n 10.4 volts,,,is that LOW ????let me know what you think,,rgds comcat:ukflag:

That howling "wow" sound is the sound all the sovs make when the battery is low. I have no idea what voltage is considered low though.
After it goes through the series of howls, I think its every 30 seconds or so, it will go into a steady threshold.
time to recharge:thumbup:

hi comcat
the gt indicates low batteries by a loud sound approximately every 30 sec (guess u could call it howling, it is loud with volume all the way up :) )
if i'm not mistaken the battery pack should give 12 V, already 11-something is considered low, 10 is very low. Voltage is not water so that it's fine as long as there is still some in the bottle :) Imagine it's your salary, if you got 5% less than you should you would be howling too :)

HH
cheers

It will give a random high tone and a little later again and keep getting it more often untill the threshold go high and stays there.
The Sovereign uses 10 cells in the rechargeable pack as they are 1.2 volts each to get the 12 volts. Now the alkaline pack only need 8 as these are 1.5 volts each to get the 12 volts, so do not use the rechargeables in the alkaline pack as you will not get enough voltage to work it correctly.
Now if you used a Multi meter to test the batteries they will read higher voltage then they actualy are as there is no load on the battery, so the 10.4 volts you meaured may only be 9 Volts which is too low to run the Sovereigns giving you the low voltage alert.
