hows the t2 se on silver coins

is the t2 good for coin hunting all i seach for is older coins or is it only good for relic hunting
or is the fisher f75 se the way to go are they about the same detector

the t2 is a good all around detector if your just a coin hunter you might look at the omega 8000 im reading that its a little better than the t2 for coins and its alot cheaper and lighter im sure more people will jump in and give some solid advice good luck hh

The T2 is very good for finding old coins,i guess most of the coins i have found are roman bronze and silver and even a Celtic gold stater which is 55bc so yes they are great for finding old coins :ukflag:

to date, less that six month i have found approx 25 silver coins with the T2SE
I cant imagine the T2 will not find a silver coin if it is under the coil within depth range.

I hope to compare a signal with my Omega and T2 but usually don't have both machines at same time ( both have proven to be good machines)
new 10x 12 sef coil on the way also for the T2

For coins I prefer the F75 because it has a wider non iron range.

T2 goes 1-40 on iron, 41-99 non iron.
F75 goes 1-20 on iron, 21-99 non iron.

Omega. A close #2 pick is the Gamma. The T2, for me, would come in 3rd.

Yes, the T2 can work okay for old coin/silver coin searches. It is well respected for it's depth of detection. That said, it ranks third on my personal list for the following reasons.:

1.. "Theory" has long suggested that lower-frequency models can handle bad ground better, and be more responsive to higher-conductive. The Omega operates at 7.8 kHz Vs 13 kHz.for the T2. (NOTE: I mentioned 'theory' but have found that to not always be so true with some detector designs.)

2.. Most of the time, avid coin hunters rely on the best visual TID and VDI info they can get. The Omega's have always demonstrated a much better 'Lock-On' than the T2's, and I have owned and used several of each model. I personally use the Omega, preferring it for the visual ID info being 'tighter' and locking on better.

3.. The Teknetics Gamma works very similar to the Omega, lacking a few quick-access adjustments on-the-fly, but the TID and VDI will still lock on a bit better than the T2.

The F-75 and T2 are not quite the same detectors. I know of several people who have used both the T2 and F-75 but preferred the Omega (or Gamma on occasion) to those higher-frequency models when it came to hunting older-use sites. There is no such thing as a 'perfect' detector from any maker, so we just pick the ones that work the best for us.

I have a request to let someone do the test both T2 and omega detectors in the ground at the same time. We'll see how they fall on the same terms

Well, the later T2se has the boost mode and the earlier models didn't.

Well the Omega doesn't have boost mode.

I'm going to say that the T2se would be the deeper one, but I'm going to say that its possible to not Target ID any deeper than the Omega.
My brother has a F75-LTD and it will detect really deep, much deeper than it will correctly ID and its my understanding that the T2se has pretty much the same horsepower but with a few less frills.
I can't test the T2se but I'm pretty sure in raw depth its deeper than the Omega??

So it might be good to test them on more equal ground,
Coin test,
in the same ground,
With good ID'in of the coins,
And with the same size coils.

I know if I'm in an area where I can get the sensitivity on my Omega up past 60 it will ID coins down to the 8" range (nickles being the most iffy)

I went out this morning with the Omega 8000 13 inch coil and the T2SE 10x12 coil
Marked three targets with the Omega and went back over them with the T2SE before digging them.

All three targets ended up being newer pennies
Well wouldn't you know it, the Omega was back in the truck and and i was swinging my way back and ended up digging a clad dime at an easy 10 inches ( very iffy signal and would have been perfect for a comparison

Next target at 7 inches turned out to be a 1896 Barber dime.
Sounds like a fishing story doesn't it

Air test in MY back yard says the T2SE with the 10x12 coil will hit a barber quarter further away from the coil than the Omega with the 13 inch coil
That's just my 2 machines running the same settings

Should i make a video
Both machines are great and serve me well

already have a quarter burried at 7 inches and i must keep the Omega closer to the ground than the T2SE with the same settings
coin has been burried for one year

:)Thank you Monte for your great information (as usual)... I have an early T2 and find it great to coin hunt in trashy
areas with the 5-inch sniper coil.

Howdy Monte... Now down "memory lane." As you remember from your "Compass Days," Don Dykstra designed the "DD" coil.
Gosh, this was back about 1973 (?)... For me, it was a better choice then the concentric coils while nugget hunting in northern
Nevada while using a "Gold Scanner." I used mine as a body mount and sent it in to have it modded for your revised belt mounting clip.
