hunt #3 with the F5

Got out for a few hours with the F5 today. I was gonna go back to where I was yesterday but there were to many people around for my liking. The place I did hunt was a nightmare. can confetti and iron. Big iron. I was diggin' up re bar, railroad spikes, big nuts and bolts. It was all coming in at good target numbers, and still learning the F5 I dug every thing  The can confetti was coming in anywhere from 30 all the way up to 80. I got so sick and tired of seeing that crap. :ranting: I'm sure I'll learn to avoid diggin alot of that stuff as I learn this detector. This place was also a mud pit. I've got mud all over my Knobs, my pro pointer and me. Having said all that, I wouldn't have missed it for the world cause I was doing something I love to do.
The ring came in like a zinc and I believe some one called this type of ring a mood ring. I know there is no value to it but I love finding rings of any kind!
The chauffeurs badge bounced around in the low 70s I thought it was gonna be more can confetti. :look: It was bout 4" down. I fooled around with differant settings again and ran in all metal for all of 15 minute.wow! That would take some getting used to.
I rubbed copper cleaner on the chauffeurs badge so that it could be read. the pin and clasp are in perfect working order considering its over 70 years old. Time for a hot cup of coffee. Thanks for looking and best of luck to you!!!!!!!

I hunted yesterday with the F5 and the can confetti was horrible. Like you mentioned I was getting hits 80+ dig and a darn can part. Makes it really frustrating.

Do you have a 5 inch DD coil for your F5? It works great in those really trashy places.

Here's a hunt where I used a 5 inch DD coil with really good results. Its now my favorite coil.

cool finds i love spots like that alot of trash means nobody else has been there, good chance of some good finds. you can eliminate digging bigger iron junk by pinpointing to see how big the targets are keep at it . hh

I have a designated jacket and bluejeans for digs. When they get too heavy with mud and dirt, it slows me down, then I gots to wash them; it comes with the turf (now theres a pun). good luck, lots of good finds to come, CO

That badge was a good find!

It sounds like you were having fun and that is what is important.

I try to keep my detector hand clean if at all possible just because of what you described.

The can slaw is jumping up into the high numbers because your not centered over the target. To get the most accurate TID, pinpoint it to the center of your coil and resweep. The numbers will drop back down where they belong.

Sounds and looks like you are coming along nicely. Like you, I like to find any ring, regardless of value.

Tabman the next detecting Item I buy will be that coil. thanks.
Mike thats good information thanks. My F5 seems to be acting kinda odd. have to wait till the weather breaks before I can take it out again . maybe its my imagination but it seems to take a long time to recover from pinpointing before I can start swinging again. anyway thanks to all for reading and responding.
