Hunt #47 with the F70 this year and GOLD!!!

It was a great hunt today 14KGOLD necklace. But that isn't the best surprise. If you will look at the earring on the right. Doesn't that look like a blueish green horse feather earring??? Now I know that find is about as rare as finding a unicorn horn.:crazy: Boy I love this hobby. Thanks for looking and having fun... Happy Trails...Z

Ya, tvr those are the coins I like to find because I can stop at the liquor store on the way home from hunting:detecting:. :clapping:
That necklace is marked 14K and also 585. The web says it is a hallmark for white gold. Now the question is. Has white gold the same value as yellow gold??? My wife only has yellow gold. Gold is gold???? Your talking to a guy who wouldn't buy a piece of jewelry for any reason at this time of my life. So have no idea about jewelry. If my wife wants jewelry she buys it and tells me look at the nice present you just got me....
Thanks for reading and Happy Trails.....Z

Z that's a nice score on the necklace  White, yellow, rose, it doesn't matter, gold is gold, it's the non-gold metals that make it "white" gold (never really understood why anyone would want to make gold look like silver

Any idea what your necklace weighs? It looks like a heavy piece, probably a nice chunk of $$ (paid for your F70 most likely :beers:

What are the main differences between the F70 and the F75 metal detectors besides about $400?

Others who have used both can speak with more authority than me since I've never used the F70. But I do know these differences:

The F75 comes with the 11" DD coil standard, with the F70 it's an optional coil.

Also the F75 has a toggle switch (a great feature) for pinpointing and fast grab ground balancing.

Most importantly to me, the F75 LTD or Special Edition or whatever they're calling it now, has the BP mode. The F70 doesn't have an enhanced detector with this mode.

Thank you for your reply. I just wondered if the Fisher 75 justified the $400 more in cost
over the F70.

Cal Cobra thanks for the info on the white gold. I have no idea how heavy the necklace is?? I don't have a scale or I don't have a machine to tell me if it is gold. Actually I only find old coins and jewelry by accident. I only go hunting for coins and the most important reason is for something to do during the summer. It gets me out of the house, exercise, sun, fresh air and my wife loves that I am gone for a few hours. We are both retired.
Reltolbert I can only tell you why I bought the F70 and not the F75. I could have gotten the F75 but I took the F70 because I am only a coin hunter and not a super deep hunter. The F70 is just a little lighter but I ended up with the 11" coil and use that most of the time because the beach is big and I can cover much bigger area. I really not interested in digging those 10" plus coins or relics. I usually don't run the F70 and max. I am an over weight, retired bus driver that hasn't exercised much in the past few decades. So really not looking to have a heart attack looking for those deep down treasures. I just plug along at my own pace and I have been known to talk to someone about metal detecting or conspiracy stuff more than detecting. In the long run it really doesn't matter what I find just as long as I find a few coins maybe a ring or a couple of hot wheels for the great grandson. That is a good hunt for me. Enough thanks for reading... Happy Trails....Z

Reltolbert I tried the Omega 8000 for a week end. I was thinking of getting it for a back up detector. It does hunt very quiet and hits clear and crisp on targets. It is very light and easy to operate. Now using it on a weekend is not a fair test and I didn't read the manual. The guys at the detector shop showed me how to use it and I went from there. I only used it for one day and got my F70 out again and took the Omega back on Monday. I had trouble GBing on one of the tot lots and I didn't think I was getting as deep as the F70. I don't much care for the 9 volt battery. I didn't like where the headphones plug in. I didn't like carrying the Omega to and from a site, it would always turn up side down. Awkward to say the least. F70 in left hand and sand scoop in right with headphones balancing on the arm rest. The F70 has headphones plug in the back and it is under the arm and doesn't get in the way while detecting. I carry the F70 under the control housing and it balances just perfectly while walking to and from a site. I have never had a site that it would not GB on the F70. I know I said I don't care to hunt for deeper coins but when using the F70 I know I am getting coins consistently at 5" plus. Most of the coins I have dug are in the range of 1" to 6". I have dug many coins deeper than 6".
I just didn't care for the Omega. Nothing wrong with the Omega but just didn't fit my preferences. Hope this helps. You can tell I really like the F70 but others don't so it is up to you to find what you like and don't like about a detector..... Enough!! thanks for reading. Happy Trails....Z

Zeekeys,

I thank you for your advice. I can buy a new Omega 8000 at a store here for $399, if
they are still in stock, and I can buy a new F70 for $699 at Cabelas or $649 at
Kellyco.
A $300 difference between the two, however, I seem to like the Fisher70 which has notch
control that the Tek T2 doesn't have. The differences between these two detectors is
minor from what I have read and heard.

cool beens :super:

Well, I couldn't pass up on buying a new Teknetics Omega 8000 for $399.
This was at a nearby Sports Store. I guess the owner doesn't realize his
price is $200 less than other stores.
It tests fine and my 5" Gold Bug Coil works great with the Omega. I also
have the 11"DD Omega coil with the standard coil that came with this Detector,
so I'm all set to go.

Nice deal Reltolbert. Like most of the time. The things we most worried about never show up. So go out and have fun. A detector is like everything else. It has some quarks. If you have the patience to learn and use them, you and the detector will be a fine team. Enjoy the Omega... Happy Trails....Z

GREAT finds! Lets just hope this oil mess doesn't make its way any further into our beaches. No signs yet in the central east coast of Florida but the loop current could be our demise. Try cleaning that stuff off of your scoop!
