Hunting an old Military Fort

Last weekend i had the pleasure of hunting an old hunting an old Military Fort from the 1800s. Im new to Tesoros and have a Tesoro Tejon that i would have loved to use up here but i barrowed it to a friend to try out. I used my old Minelab Explorer and found some Buttons and bullets but there was some areas where there was a lot of pottery laying on the ground and there was so much iron in the ground the my Explorer nulled out and i could only get about 2 inches of depth in these areas. Would have the Tejon done a better job in these areas?
I am hoping to get back up there in the spring.

In areas like that, becuse the electro magnetec field generated from the small coil is so much more concentrated. The smaller than stock coil allows you to move inbetween the trash, and with much better seperation than the stock coil.

Now if you are allowed to use a shovel in this location, and you have found old age 'indicators' such as military buttons, percussion caps, three ring mini's, old cartridge casings etc.with your Tejon. Then you can step up the search and use a home made sifter and shovel, sometimes this method works amazingly well if old relics are hidden in the iron trash that no metal detector can penetrate.
