when I visited Wieliczka , Poland.
I must tell you ....it was quite an experience....like a big city down there.
There were shops, food concession stands, a chapel .
The air was damp and cool down there; easy to breathe//...the mine was used effectively at one time as a hospital for people with respiratory illnesses.
As I was walking the narrow corridor down in the depths of the earth, I was wondering why I didn't see any white salt....was surpirsed to discover that salt in the mines is black....never knew that
Anyway, I was relieved when that rickety elevator finally brought me back to daylight after just a couple of hours down there.
And these brave men were entombed for 69 days!!
Now that's a miracle!
