I am completely amazed at how much valuable treasure lies just inches under our feet!

I guess it was time for me to move on from my original thread that I started as it was closed. I am just so intrigued by what I am reading that you all have found! As I explained in my first thread, I am new to detecting. I have a Teknetics Alpha and I accidental broke my coil. Yesterday, I ordered a new coil for it, BUT today, I found and ordered a BRAND NEW Teknetics Delta 4000 and am awaiting its arrival! All that I am reading is so exciting and I cannot wait to use the valuable information I am receiving. I just can't soak it in fast enough. I also found some threads very funny--like the thread about not wanting to tell people that come up to you in parks or on public property what you are finding. I too have said "I'm just learning the machine, I actually am only finding some pull tabs and lots of zinc pennies". That is the truth though! I am not experienced enough, nor have I been detecting long enough to find anything of value... yet. I cannot wait to receive my new Delta 4000! Tell me all I can know... PLEASE! Thanks, Lori

Just keep reading ,and learning , you will soon have excellent finds. We have some real pro's here at Findmall who will
help you in all ways possible to learn.. There are some great people who know how to use a detector Lori..Just ask away, and as you saw on the other very lengthy post you get great answers.
I thought your other post was a good one......... But it had run it's course, and was getting off track....

Enjoy the forum......... and post up your finds too. No matter how big or small we like reading about metal detecting finds...

I had a Delta 4000 last spring/summer before upgrading to my Gamma 6000. The Delta 4000 is the best bang for the buck in that price range. You made a good choice. If I remember correctly, my first 2 or 3 finds with the Delta were nickels. The Delta goes surprisingly deep and is very accurate. It is extremely easy to pinpoint with. Just watch for powerlines. EMI causes you to have to turn down the sensitivity. I have the same issue with my Gamma but after turning the sensitivity down till it stabilizes, I go on my way and it is business as usual. Good luck and HH with your Delta 4000 as I am sure you will really enjoy it!

Congrats, you will really like the TID. Once you get used to the numbers you have a really good idea what is under your coil. If you want to you can cherry pick coins as they will come in at very distinct numbers. Or you can dig all the good signals and be suprised at what you find occasionally. I dug two rings last week that both came in as zinc pennies, its always a nice suprise to see something different than you were expecting to pop out of the hole. I have really only been doing this for about two months now and I have dug about 4 pounds of pennies so far. I started out with a lone star and within the first week I knew I wanted an upgrade, I was going to get the Delta as it was the best bang for the buck, then I found an Omega for 50$ more and couldnt resist. Now you can pawn off your alpha on hubby and drag him along as well :)

Thank you all for your helpful tips and for sharing your photo's of your finds. I cannot wait to receive it and try it out.
@Caleb-- my replacement coil by Bounty Hunter came today and it works perfectly with my Alpha Teknetics. I haven't had a minute to go out and try it yet, however I did put different metals on the floor just to again hear it's lovely beeping sounds again! In response to your comment about my husband-- No such luck in getting him out there to share this hobby with me. Number 1 reason is because "It's FOOTBALL Season"! No, not even after football! He is just not "that" kind of man. He is much more high maintenance than me (although he says otherwise). His hobby is training for whatever next marathon is coming up. In fact, we are flying out on Friday, November 2nd as he is running in this years New York City Marathon on Sunday 11/4. I though, booked our rental 1 1/2 miles away from the finish line in Central Park. Pray for me as I TRY to find him! I'll let you all know how things are going with the Delta when it arrives and I get a chance to get out and use it. But as it appears, the next 2 weeks are busy ones for me, but I wish you all the very best in finding the BEST treasures EVER! Hopefully, I'll pop back in soon! Have fun!
