I am experimenting with my tumbler and I tried a brillo pad like Uncle Willy suggested

here is a before and after pic of THREE hours total tumbling.

I used water, the brillo pad and a few drops of dishwashing liquid. NO GRAVEL. after 1.5 hours I dumped water and added fresh water and soap, ran for an additional 1.5 hours, 3 hours total got these results. I'd say the brillo pad works wonders! thanks uncle willy!

I could find a tumbler big enough for frying pans?

Here you go Peter !! But your paying for the shipping :D    ;)

Try this...Get a can of Coke and pour it into your rusty/crusty cast iron frying pan. Let it sit for a while. If it is really bad, you might have to do it again. Scrub the leftovers(if any) off, then recondition it. I had some bad ones that I did that with, and it worked well.

I bought one of those Harbor Freight tumblers too. It works pretty well. I use a combo of sand and fish tank gravel.

I put the whole pad in, but let me say this, I did NOT use the brillo brand, I bought the generic brand sitting next to it at wally world, the generic ones cost $1.04 for a box of 15 pads

when she goes to bed at night she tosses them out in the back yard. Next morning, they are spotless.

Frying pan elves???? Nope, she has raccoons that visit her back yard and clean up the pans.

I've use Coca-Cola to get the rust off lug nuts on a car before.

Those coins sure look great cleaned up Goes4ever and I would say your tumbler and brillo pads are working for you! :)

God Bless!
