It has been my experience that if my Elite 2200 says it is a quarter after swinging the coil all directions, that it is always a quarter. I cannot say that for when pennies, dimes or nickels are indicated.

Good old George is always truthful. I love those quarter "pings."

hey there I'm a portland/vanc area hunter an have the bounty hunter elite 2200 since July of this year 2009 also i do find that mind does pick up dimes as it shows dimes an quarters are always quarters yes also i have notice that the deeper the object is the different in the tone's i choose to go all metal yes you get a lot of junk but that's not always the case I'm always interested in others opions on the elite 2200 so any one care to share thier experience with the elite 2200 ?

Have you considered going to Three Rocks just north of Road's End by Lincoln City and search for that fifth chest of gold treasure?
