i dont get it i am new to these minelab fbs machines .i bought a quattro about a week or so ago and have not had much time using it but when i did i was having a lot of trouble trying to figure out what it was telling me .had a lot of seeming false signals and could not find much in my yard here . people on this forum has said i must be in a trashy area and try to find a cleaner area to learn the quattro. funny thing ....i havent even began to understand the quattro and i ran across a fellow that had an explorer for sale cheap ! he said he could not figure it out so i bought for 350 bucks figured i could not go wrong. any way i got home tonite with it got out of the truck and turned it on in smart find in the same area i was having trouble with the quattro and in 15 mins i found 4 pennies and two dimes whats with that??? confused here
 
Ihave been using the explorer for three years now and I must admitt that it was not easy at first but no matter what is said about the new Quatro I would not change. It is a new machine and there has got to be bugs in it.Even so it is a Mine Lab and there has not been anything negative posted about it.When all else fails go back to the beginning and read the instructions. After three years I still read the manual and Andy's book. Go back and give it another try.
 
go wrong buying any minelab for 350. you should have that paid for in about one month.oh yea i forgot you shouldnt sell any relics for more than 200.Hey i got an idea . sell me those machines cheep.LOL Hey seriosly,you will love those machines after you figure them out. it takes a while. I think it was easy to learn for me cause i hadnt had ANY experiance with ANY other machines prior to my minelabs.Take your time and it will pay off for you. HH and seeyallater........................Ed
 
I use both the explorer II and the explorer xs. they treat me very well in most cases. in hot ground or not , i think (personaly) they do as well as any other machine out there today, it just takes a good HUNTER to find the good stuff. And the good stuff is WHATEVER YOU are interested in finding. My wife just turns her head at the sight of a civil war button, but i gotta fondel it for a long while.I was not interested in finding coins till i found my first realle, but now all i want to do is sift old foundations.What(good stuff ) are you huntin for?
 
what kind of reale did you find ? i am looking for coins ..i guess i have been away from land detecting scince 1989 when i took up divig on spanish wrecks in fl . had an operation down there since 1989 found manyyyyyyy reales pre 1715 some 1600S also and gold.escudos many many artifacts my partner has been doing it since 1963 maybe you heard of him roy volker ... he started down there when mel fisher did and art hartman.
