I feel really horrible

PeggyK

New member
I was given a raise this morning -
but the reason I was given a raise was to take over part of the job of a friend of mine who was laid off this morning.
He has 4 kids and a wife with health issues, and I really like him.

I have been underpaid for what I do - and knew it, but I wasn't going to push anything in this economy.
This just sucks, big-time - to use a phrase my teenagers use.

Peggy

The best thing to do is pray for the family, and to thank the good Lord for the blessing. Most of us are fortunate to have a job right now. I will pray for that family too.

Peggy, don't look at the glass as half empty. Realize God's blessing bestowed on you with a higher salary after being underpaid for so long. Your friend will have another door open soon if he has the faith. Pray for your friend that he will get an even better paying job. Pray for his wife to regain her health and have God restore her anew. Worrying and filling guilty is not of God. God is under control and working behind the scene.

Pray with me, God, our Father, we turn to you seeking your divine help and guidance as Peggy's friend looks for suitable employment. He needs your wisdom to guide his footsteps along the right path, and to lead him to find the proper things to say and do in this quest. He wishes to use the gifts and talents you have given him, but he needs the opportunity to do so with gainful employment. Do not abandon him and his family, dear Father, in this search, but rather grant him this favor he seeks so that he may return to you with praise and thanksgiving for your gracious assistance. Grant this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

let go and let God

I can understand how you feel, but like everyone else has said, just thank God for His blessing and pray for the man and his family. There wasn't anything that you personally did to cause the man to be laid off, so try not to feel guilty or bad about it. I'm sure he doesn't have any hard feelings toward you over it.

Thank God for your blessing and pray for the family just like the others have said! It will all work out for the glory of God and praises to His blessed name of Jesus! God makes no mistakes nor does He make any junk! Allow Him to lead you in your prayers and in all things, as He guides your's and your friend's and his family's lives! God Bless! Betty

Lets see...........
lay someone off and make another person do there work and I'll bet they didn't give you the other persons whole wage!
The other day the news ( that I'm almost at the point of not watching ) said people are not eating out as much with what is going on with the economy. However they said not all restaurants are doing poor. McDonald's is doing better then they have been for some time. seems people want to eat where its not as expensive. So what did McDonald's do seeing there profits are up.......
They raised the prices of a few burgers. Your double cheese is no longer $1.00 its $1.19 but they came up with a new burger that is still a dollar. It's the same as a double cheese but with one less slice of cheese. Now its not like $.19 increase will kill me but the point of their greed and the fact you either spend more to get the same thing or spend the same and get less. So they come out ahead no mater what way you go.
That it, no more McDonald's for me!!!! well they still taste good so maybe just not as often
Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahaha
Just me venting

Greg, don't watch the news any more or you will be part of the news!!!!!!!!
I stopped watching the news right before Christmas and my blood pressure and stress has dramatically decreased. There is so much positive to focus on. Employment is 92%, stocks and housing are at a 50% discount which is great for first-time homebuyers and investors, mortgage rates are under 5%, stocks are near a bottom and will make investors rich in 5 years, gasoline is 50% cheaper then last summer and we are free to worship God without serious persecution. This is the greatest country on earth. Life is fantastic!!!!!!! Halelujaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh

Thanks for the encouragement guys -
I don't think it is corporate greed - I work for a very small company, which is what makes it hard. If I worked in a company of 60 or 100 I wouldn't know the names of every person. I wouldn't know who was laid off. As it is, since January 1st - 5 people were let go, and I knew each of them, but never suspected Mike might ever be laid off. I think the company is just trying to weather the storm. I know my isupervisor feels horrible about it.

I am thankful - it is like Psalm 112, which I firmly believe the Lord spoke to my heart was a psalm for this time. I just hate to see it happening.
And I now know for sure that my job is secure - because he and I were the only two trained on the computer software. but still, what it all comes down to is putting your faith where it belongs. God has my life in his hand and He is out for my good & His Glory.

you feel bad right now,but I believe God has a plan for all of us. Perhaps now it looks bad but down the road who knows what wonderful things God has in store for us.I lost my job three weeks before Christmas and have applied at 47 places since then.I have a wife,3 kids, mortgage, insurance, doctor bills and on and on.............. but, I know and believe God is still in control and that the door will open when the time is right. God has used me in every job that I have ever worked and I know why he put me there afterwards.
I have a felony record on file that prevents me from securing some jobs but even my last job, the manager knew this and still hired me. So, chin up!, keep praying and praising and keep your friend in prayer. We will all get through this tough time and then WATCH OUT, as GOD pours out his blessings upon us.
God Bless,
Jay
