I fixed the worry about water or dirt getting in and under my toggle,s on GT

I been looking for rubber toggle switch covers always worryed about getting water or dirt caught in those toggles not good !! i found these very easy to install and they come with a rubber O ring to seal them , you have to take off the thin nut that comes with each toggle switch a pair of thin needle nose pliers work great , one thing !! do not over tighten the screw down it will flatten the O ring and it is useless that way water will get under and in the box . Unfortunately the guy selling these ran out but iam sure he will be getting more $ 2.99 each good price i seen half boots go for double that . Its always good to improve the GT and make it last longer a little preventive maintenance . i included a few pics of covers on my GT and O ring pic . Good hunting Jim

Looks good Jim. I've been looking for some of these for my self - pop always taught us to take preventative measures rather than repairing something due to not protecting our things. I've found some boots, but not with the O-rings yet.

These are manufactured, by a company in Taiwan.

The Philmore brand, part number 30-1000. I bought a package of 2 for $2.07 at local Electronic Parts Outlet (EPO).. Do a search they are available, the rubber top may wear a hole however, but no big deal just put another on for a couple of more years use. Way better than $6 a piece, at a $1 each. Throw a few spares in you kit.

Wow, found 'em.

Thanks much,

Gary tha is exactly who i got mine from fast and great price . Jim

This is such a good find at that price that I'm going to link it to another thread on boots that is linked to the Sovereign Accessories sticky. This question comes up far too often not to have a link at people's finger tips, and it's so important to preventing a switch from going bad. Especially if you chest or hip mount, because then dirt or sand drops straight down right into the switch, which will destroy it in short order unless you're lucky enough to fix it with some contact cleaner.

Yep, that's why I went with military grade half boots. Still seal out dirt or moisture but no worries of the ends wearing holes in them since that's still the exposed metal toggle of the switch. But I paid like $25 for mine, with one to spare as a backup for that price. Even if the ones you guys found wear out eventually at the tip, the price is still so cheap that you just throw another on, so that's one heck of a deal for sure. Here's a pic of the half boots I'm using...

One of the reasons why I like buying certain tools from my local Harbor Tool & Freight store. Sure, some of the stuff is suspect as to it's life span, but for the price if I get a year or two out of it I figure I got my money's worth and then some compared to what I would have paid elsewhere. On the other hand, I picked up a package deal dirt cheap therer of a cordless drill, saws-all, circular saw, and a light, all using the same battery, about 10 years ago and have beat the living snot out of those things and they still are going strong. I got that whole package deal for less than just one of those tools would have cost me somewhere else. Recently I picked up a cordless screwdriver for $10 featuring a rechargeable battery. Best thing since sliced bread for speeding up jobs. If it takes a dump on me in even say 4 months I've got my money's worth at that price.

PS- If anybody didn't know, they sell some nice single and double barrel coin tumblers and vibration style ones as well at a pretty cheap dime.
