I Found Out A Few Years Back That The Scorpion Really Banged Hard On Rings...

I found out a few years back that the Scorpion Really Banged hard on rings. When searching in places, especially parks and sports fields, I have noticed that Scorp bangs hard on all round circular objects like round pulltabs, beaver tail pull tabs and of course rings. Now my other vlf machines will pick up a gold ring, but generally with a softer tone. Not the Scorp. It bangs loud and clear on gold rings, possibly because of it's higher 15 kHz operating frequency. I operate the Scorp in auto mode. In busy junky fields, I just set the disc at the default position. To hunt in clean areas, I just hunt in true all metal mode. I find pinpointing in true all metal mode off the toe of the coil gives me greater accuracy, and I can judge the approximate depth by the strength & sound of the analog audio plus how fast the audio cuts out. The faster the cutoff, the shallower the target.

Now most of the Canadian currency-ie dimes, nickels & quarters are nickel plated steel. The Scorp is real hot on our coins, much better then any metal detector that I have ever tried. My clad coin count also increased substantially, especially compared to my penny ratio.

I have posted these results before on the Garrett forums, but here are again my Scorp ring finds from 2008 & 2009.

Your'e in a better area than I am for rings, I only got 22 or 23 rings this last year with my Scorp,, there's just not many things they don't do WELL:garrett:

:clapping::garrett::detecting::please:
Awesome!:thumbup:Yeah, I mostly use my Scorp for prospecting, but I'll swing it around tot lots and such occasionally. It does love rings and :pulltab:
It's funny how if the ring is not continuous(like, has a break in it)it won't hit it as hard. Such is the nature of the beast.:biggrin:
Very impressive finds John.
Hey, I'm sure you know that you're in that new book by Andy Sabisch"The Treasure Hunter's Handbook". I'm in there on page 190(my ring I found with GTI 2500):wiggle:
Thanks for sharing!:biggrin:Happy Hunting!:)
