I got Andy's book recently and loaded the coin programs!.. but?

The other day I got Andys book on the deus.. Great book!

After loading the program up I went to my old school I hit a lot built in 1941. I've found 3 silvers so far there in between countless trash items I've pulled.

Upon using the program (coin 12) it was quiet... WAY to quiet. For an hour I only got shallow signals..

Upon rehashing all the settings I discovered the silencer was on 4!

Well not sure if it was a fat finger or what but when I changed it to -1 10 yards away I got a faint purr and pulled out a 9 inch green wheat!

Now this for me is important. I learned how important settings are to get depth, and I'm looking forward to more hunts!

Yes settings are very important on the deus. can hurt or help very quick,

Whenever you touch the Reactivity the Silencer will move. You must keep an eye on it. I think it jumps to 3 most times so maybe a fat finger ? Good lesson.
Reactivity and Silencer are the two settings that will rob you of detection depth.

Right, Todd.
I am a newbee with the Deus but have learned exactly what you said above the hard way.
  1. Greater Reactivity = greater separation in trash but sacrifice depth.
  2. Lesser Reactivity = less separation in trash but greater depth.
  3. The higher the Silencer = lesser depth.
  4. The lower the Silencer = greater depth.

Thank you CT Todd.. I had no idea it changed it! I came across an open field with sparse targets so I dropped the reactivity to 1. That makes perfect sense it changes the silencer now.
