I Got hold of another Omega since the first one I had last summer

left me scratching my head!! It would dig relics but it had a few problems One was it wouldnt ground balance with the ground grab hardly ever and the zdisplay had some sort of 60 cycle flash going on..And it would do strange things in the 40-50 range with one way hits...

Well I have a brand new one with the 3 coil Package and i must say It's night and day from the first one...I have hit a couple of pounded spots and the Omega is running great...Ground balances every time no pulsing display and the 40-50 range targets are ringing in loud and clear...Setting I'm using since I'm deep woods relic hunting is
99 sens,
G.B. around 58-68
1 Bar on the F.E meter.
2- tone
Disc Zero..

I pulled some deep bigger brass yesterday that should of been got and also some small targets in the surface to 6 inch range in iron trash..

Seems the low freq combined with the best coil ever made (11 DD Bi-Axial) in my tricky north Georgia red clay is just the Ticket for the Punch that the Higher freq Machines struggle for depth in..

If you dont see the Performance out of the Higher freq T-2 /F-75 in Funky dirt like the boys in the loamy areas give a Omega a Try it retains the sensitivity to small low conductors and hits hard on High Conductors,,So That's plus in my book for relic hunting.. Relics get deep and the Omega prefer's deep Big brass as good maybe better than any machine I've seen..Look out Buckles...

Some of the bigger brass I dug was the back of a Pocket watch at 14 inches...and sash buckle thin brass rope boarders clip corners about a foot down on edge!!!( Phenomenal) and a brass butt plate broken off an Enfield Musket that wa partially masked by a horseshoe laying close.!!

So yes its a keeper

Keith I'm glad that someone else has finally psted what I saw and reported last fall, that the Omega loves deep buckles, brass and plate sized stuff!
So what if it's 'iffy' on .22 hulls.

Congrats on the Finds!

with the 11" DD coil. As I've stated in other posts, most of the time I prefer a smaller-than-stock coil, but that's because most of the time I am working sites with an abundance of iron trash, and generally the older coins at these sites are in the surface to 4" range, deep ones to 5 or 6. Just nasty amounts of iron junk!

But this past week I did hit on some deeper targets that surprised me and look forward to using the 11" this summer at some old logging and mining camps & towns, as well as two military encampments. The 11" and Omega are so light that it's possibly the most comfortable "big coil combination" I have ever used. I have several sites I have hunted locally for the past 40+ years and plan to work them to get a handle on the Omega's performance. Then, after I'm comfortable with what to expect from the Omega 8000 w/10" & 11" coils, I'll see what I think of the Tek. T2 . The frequency difference is what I'm curious about as I have generally done quite well with models in the so-called lower end of the VLF range, and seldom have enjoyed similar success with the higher-frequency units.

I look forward to more reports like yours that include the settings used, site descriptions and results.

I think an important message here is....... if one has a fair amount of detector experience and they're having suspected performance issues that really differ from what others are seeing besides what ground differences etc can produce, one might be wise to send the detector in to the factory to have it checked out in order to KNOW the detector is or isn't up to snuff. Hope this Omega does the deed for you this time and it sounds like it will.

a few years ago. I lived on the great lakes at the time, went down to the beach to learn it. I pulled out coins 12" deep with ease. I never got a chance to try it in the parks, as I had a job transfer and had to move out of state. End up selling it soon after. Man, it was one heck of a machine, also had some early software issues, but it was a depth monster.

to never make a call on machine from using just one machine in the model line and dismissing it completely...If I did that I would dislike alot of detectors and miss a lot of nice finds also!!

Since getting 2 of the same model now they both work perfect!! and yet I can see subtle differences in each of the ones I have now.. No big differences but I noticed some things quickly..

Glad I tried them again they are really nice thanks...

We ( detector Users) ought to be glad we have detecting forums to help us along the way with all the cumulative info at our reach..You and Jackpine are the main reasons I kept the Omega on the backburner for the last year...

I knew there had to be something to the omega heck my first one would find stuff with its Faults!!

is one astonishing coil to say the least..I have said it before if the T-2 had of been released with a standard concentric coil.. i believe it would of been just another so-so detector..

it's like Dave Johnson designed the machine to work on the Bi-axial instead of the Bi-Axial being designed to work on the machine!!

That coil really opens the Omega up for me around here...

Good luck when using it:thumbup:

that the higher freq machines seem to struggle with to a degree...

Thanks for keeping My interest piqued on the omega...We iron hunters gotta look out for each other.. Its brutal out there in the trenches!

It is what found the button you see on my avatar .. The G.M.I. button...It was a good foot down in a spot that was pounded .. So it (T-2) hold's a special place for me!! When I was using the detector it had just been released and most people were at the time dismissing them as junk! Well it sure is funny how far the junk has come!!

Keith

An over all A-1 Detector. Superb depth, good in the iron. My wish is they would revamp the screen and have a larger Id area like the Omega has on individual coin and other targets. Then it would be the perfect coin detector. It wouldn't bother me if they got rid of the large numeric number totally either..

And come out with a super machine. Im looking forward to see their next generation line up at some point in the future.

to me at least it's like it knows which coil is currently attached and makes internal adjustments that show up as small changes here and there in performance. Hard to explain but it's sems to be more than just the difference in the coil types.

Tom

Minelab uses this as a selling feature on the X-Terra ...Tek might be doing it and not even talking about it!!

heck the way the omega coil will work on the 19khz platform also it could very well have a data link..

But unlike Minelab we don't have to buy a new coil to change the freq......Wait a minute we have to buy a new machine to change freq Ha-Ha:devil:

But in all seriousness there might be something in the coils that could lead to bigger and better things?

Good Info Tom!

There are only two factory coils available for the Teknetics T2
