I got out and hunted with the Omega today for about 5 hours

Seems like a nice detector I actually ran it 99 sens most of the time but I was in the woods this thing air test extremely deep for such a small coil it will hear a quarter well over 17 inches with the concentric coil wont I'd' at that depth but will hear it.The 11"DD will be here tomorrow so I can see what it does with that coil.Did Dig a .54 Enfield dropped out of a spot that has been pounded it was'nt that deep but it was straight up and down in the hole so no much surface area kept reading 99 till I got close then dropped to 75.

Nice find Keith. I'm looking forward to your tests on the 11" DD, it seems to be key to this unit.

Mine lands Monday, can't wait to test it out. I have high hopes for it, but I have a new backup(?) on the way too just in case, a new ID Edge.

One of them has to be a winner (I'm leaning towards the Edge, lets see). :drinking:

Thanks for posting your first impressions. At 99 sens does an audible "threshold" kick in or is it silent search?

Tom

Jackpine according to the Omega manual an audible threshold will kick in with the sensitivity above 70:

"The sensitivity has two ranges. From 0 to 70, the sensitivity increases
on a linear scale. Above 71, the sensitivity threshold level starts
changing. At values greater than 70, some internal circuit noise will be
noticed. The higher the number, the higher this background

I had read that but was wondering what Keith had to say about it. He has used the same Fisher 1200 series machine I have that have an audible threshold at higher sens settings.

HH Tom

Doesn't have an audio threshold in Disc. IF you do hear anything, it will just be internal circuit noise.

I was hoping for lots of gain and threshold at high levels more than one could ever use. It seems FT did not give it to us or they really improved the circuitry.

Still waiting for Keith on this one.

but no thresh. I was running it awhile ago wide open at 99 and as long as the coil is moving its basically quite will false abit on nails this high but you can tell there false hits in the audio.set the detector down to dig and she does get noisy quick. sort of like on the advantage the ground gives the noise a nulling effectI like it:clapping:Prett nice being able to run hot like that and still hear targets. cant get the t-2 to do this. well the DD didnt make it today so I guess its going to be Monday now. Dang it !! Im wanting to see what this thing does with that big DD..Target seperation in iron with stock coil is less than desirable right now.But I've always believed the coil makes the machine so man I hope it gets the separation right and still retains the depth.this thing is really deep on airtest really deep!!!Still havent dug a deep target yet so thats still out on the in-ground depth .Either I havent got over a target deep yet o this elliptical isnt cutting it.

Man I hate waiting.

Again no threshold in disc you do get some thresh in all metal coming in in the upper sens settings but then its not a smooth thresh at least not around here but it is a thres thats goes up and down with a target and this mode has some punch!!

Sounds good to me. No worries now. Hopefully the 11" DD will be just the ticket for depth and seperation.

Jackpine I'm just curious, but is the threshold on the Fisher 12xx then like it is on the Sovereign? If so, do you dig slight positive threshold changes?

Can you fellows tell me where you are finding the 11 inch double D coil for the Omega? I still havent found anything deep with the stock coil.
