I got out and went fishing for the first time in a long time. What a nice way to spend the end of the world.

Last Saturday was the last day of the world, I was told anyway. My lifelong friend and I decided to wait for the bitter end together fishing. We took his boat and went to a local lake that is about an hour from home. It is a crappie- bluegill-bass kind of lake and we hoped to nail a few spawning largemouth.

It was a nice day to be out. A little cold and windy but we were more interested in just having a little break. The mountains in the background are still covered in snow and a ski resort is located on those hills.

The water was high and flooded some trees and bushes along the south side of the lake so we headed in. The water was 7 feet deep and a lot of cover for largemouths.

Looking out of the bushes you can see where the shore line is supposed to be.

As soon as we started casting the bass started coming into the boat. This is my friend Brent with nice bass. He is a 32 year Sherriff officer and we have been pals since first grade. I was his best man and he was mine. Boy the stories we could tell....

I did my share of catching and tossing back the nice bass that wanted to play. We were out for fun and not food. About 1400 Brent got a call from a retired CIA agent that invited us to a barbeque. I spent the rest of the day rubbing elbows with a lot of law enforcement folks and wealthy bussiness men that were in town for Harmon Kilibrew's funeral. A nice day off and when the world did not end we decided we should try it again. DC
