I HAVE THE GARRETT INFINIUM AND THE MARK II WATER DETECTORS,I HAVEN'T USED EITHER ONE YET AND A SOVEREIGN ELITE. DOES THE INFINIUM DO WHAT IT SAYS IT WILL DO FOR LAND AND WATER OR SHOULD I SELL THE INFINIUM AND KEEP THE MARK II FOR WATER DETECTING AND SOVEREIGN FOR LAND OR SELL THE TWO AND KEEP THE INFINIUM ONLY AND HAVE ONE MACHINE. THANKS A LOT. ARTIE

Artie. Only you know what your needs are. Are you hunting salt water? are you coin hunting on land? Do you hunt areas of heavy iron junk? Are you cache hunting where every signal is important? Only you know all these answers.
The infinium has a fair discrmination system but not as good as some VLF det. like the gti2500. But it will operate in ground that will kill any VLF so once again only you know.

Most diehard detectorists own several units as some are deeper, faster, better ID, handle trash better..
It all depends on your expertise types of area you hunt and above all personal preferences..Line up 10 detectorists from a local club and they all could give you an idea what they use and why and seriously doubt all would be the same unit and indeed might be 6 or 7 different types.I would try out you units before you judge them as there is no one perfect unit.

Both are specialized detectors. Don't depend on them for all phases of detecting.

Charlie could you elaborate for me on this please?</BLOCKQUOTE>

no pulse det has the disc. capabilities that a vlf has. The infinium has a reverse disc. system that works good enough it also has a two tone disc that is pretty good.
About the ground deal. Pulse det, like the mine lab SD series and the infinium, don't see the ground like a vlf. The details are longer than we have time for, they just don't.
So they can operate in far hotter ground that any vlf.
