I have a GTAx750.....

and would appreciate a little input on it. My brother has an ace 250 and my sister has the 250pro? I was just wondering how these rate and maybe some comparisons.

I took mine out to a Civil War battlefield last weekend. Out in the middle of a pine thicket with many saw-briars, I got a signal that was very much the sound of a quarter if my detector had been in the coin mode; however, it was in relic mode. I dug 3-4 inches to find a VERY black coin. I thought I was in heaven! As it turned out, it was a 1982 quarter. Some other detectorist probably lost it out of his pocket 20 yrs ago!

Even tho you have your detector in Relic Mode, it will still find coins, just the same as in any other modes. Watch the notches as you switch modes, more turn on as you go down thru the modes. Too bad about the coin turning up clad but that has happened to all of us, at one time or another.
You 750 has quite a few more features than the 250's. BTW, the only difference in the 250 and the 250 pro, the pro comes with the big coil, that's all. Your 750 will require a slower swing speed and require a little more tweaking to get the optimum proformance for it in your area. Since no two areas are alike, theres not any settings that work best for everyone, you will just have to play with it and get 'er fine tuned. The factory presets run a little high on the Sens. and Threshold, so that's a place to start. Set the Thresh. to just a slight hum and the Sens. around 6.5 to 7. Bump it up till it starts to false at the end of your swings and then back it down a notch or 2. I just set my GTAx's to run at 6.5 and forget about it. You won't miss anything by running your Sens. a little low
Well I have to get to work now. Good luck!!

The GTAx 750 is a great detector. It has more features that the Ace 250:

- Beach mode (salt elimination in this mode)
- 24 notches (Ace has 12)
- round 8.5" coil which pinpoints better.
- Power master chip
- Threshold Adjustment
- Audio Tone Adjustment

For best depth run it in All Metal or Jewelry Mode. Coin Mode cuts down the depth on nickels.

My tip: Get the 4.5 crossfire II coil for it. Target ID and separation in trash is much better than with the standard coil. You can run sensitivity higher with the 4.5 coil too. You will still be able to find coins up to 7" deep with that small coil.
