I have read the Explorer II is hard to pinpoint with?

I have only dug around 200 targets, but honestly I am getting as close with the Pinpoint of the Explorer as I do with CZ7a, Garrett GTI 2500, or any of the other brand of detectors. I really haven't had trouble pinpointing at all yet?
For those who have had theirs longer what issues are finding with your pinpointing? How far off are your pinpoints? Any ides what the problems are, There are difficulties obviously for some people because I have read a lot about it.

Thanks KCK

I've had an XS II since they came out &, like you, find them a breeze to pinpoint with and dead on. Perhaps folks who had trouble initially were switching from concentric to DD & had a problem adjusting. Most of the guys I know who use Explorers don't have a problem plus a lot of them have bought X-1 probes.

I don't use the pin point option on my EX11. I hear the beep and just back the coil up until the beep stops. The piece is then laying right infront of the coil. I dig the same size hole as when I tried using the pin point. And I get more dug not having to stop and switch gears. One time I walked for about 50 feet wondering why iron was everywhere since the last coin? Then I had seen that it was still in pin point mode.:stars: Thats when I pretty much quit using it. Life is good.

I do my Pinpointing the same way.....

I don't bother selecting the PP mode.... Takes too much time...I plan on shortening that time even more with a X-1 Probe

KCK,

It has been my experience that if a person cannot pinpoint to within 1" of the target in 10 seconds or less (on a horizontal coin up to 7" deep), then they are not doing it correctly. This includes using the PINPOINT mode.

But then its a dd and not a concentric , the concentrics are easier. But then the pinpoint is a motion pinpoint on the explorer is it not which makes it harder.
