The new regulators have come in and they were shipped out today, Priority Mail to each of you that have been waiting.
Along with the new regulator we have sent you a bonus as a thank you for your patience.
After having purchased the 5400 mAh Lithium Ion Batteries, I was able to secure a small quantity of (GET THIS !) 7800 mAh Lithium Batteries. That is a 7.8 hour run time battery, and it does not weigh any more than the 5400 mAh battery. They are quite a bit more expensive, and I have a lot more ordered but they are coming on a boat from China.
I had just enough to send along one 7800 mAh battery to replace one of your 5400 mAh batteries at no additional charge. SO, if you currently have two 5400 mAh batteries, kindly send one of them back to me as I have sent you a 7800 mAh battery to replace it.
In the future, when we get enough 7800 mAh batteries in we will probably offer two different regulator packages. One with two 5400 mAh batteries at $229 and a regulator package with two 7800 mAh batteries at $259.
At this point I can see that most of you will probably use the 7800 mAh battery as your primary battery as it should last you all day, and the 5400 mAh will be your extra run time reserve battery.

Regulator Issue
The issue with the regulator has been resolved. A few words about how the regulator operates.
The regulator and battery will work best if you turn your detector on first, and then the battery regulator. If you turn your detector off, turn your regulator battery off. Then turn the detector on first, then the regulator.
Now, the probability is that you can turn the regulator on first and then the detector, and everything will work fine. However if your detector does not power up, then turn everything off, and turn your detector on first, then the regulator / battery.
This idiosyncrasy is not the fault of the regulator, it is the result of some batteries being a little more touchy than others. The internal battery circuit board which monitors the battery connection sometimes can get confused, if the regulator is turned on, and the detector is not. The battery is sending out power, however, the power is stopping at the regulator and not going anywhere and the battery misinterprets this as a short and trips the protection circuit in the battery. Turning the regulator off, allows the battery to reset. As I said, you may never actually experience this, I have not, however, if you do, you now know why it happens and how to correct the situation.
Rob Allison, and I, and several other people have tested the new regulator in the field and the reviews are unanimous; none of us will ever detect with any other regulator and/or battery setup again!
CHARGER
The charger light is red while the battery is charging and until the battery is fully charged, then it turns green. Easy enough to remember, RED stop GREEN ready to GO.
YOUR REPLACEMENT PACKAGE
Depending on what you sent back, you should now be getting a new regulator, your battery pouch, a charger, and at least a 5400 mAh battery and a NEW 7800 mAh battery as a thank you for your patience. We only recently secured a small quantity of these 7800 mAh batteries which are more expensive than the 5400 batteries. However, we are giving you one as a replacement for one of your 5400 mAh batteries at no extra charge.
IF YOU HAVE TWO 5400 mAh Batteries and have not returned any batteries:
Please send one of them back, as we have supplied you with a new 7800 mAh battery as a replacement for one of your 5400 mAh batteries at no extra charge.
IF YOU STILL HAVE AN OLD REGULATOR
Please send the old regulator back, now that you have a new one. We need to send the old ones back to COILTEK so we can get a credit.
SHIPPING CREDIT
We tried to keep track of what it cost you to ship back the defective regulator and it is shown as a credit on your invoice. You may apply this credit towards a future purchase, or if you prefer a refund, just let us know and we will issue you a refund check. - Once again thank you for hanging in there with us as we got this matter corrected - DOC
