I got out for about 2 hours today and I decided to put on my 6 inch Excelerator coil on my Se Pro to do some detecting in the heavy iron, Well I didn't find much and I decide to walk back to the car while still detecing, I got a signal that sounded nice but it didn't sound like silver. I check the depth on it and it was at the very bottom. I check the smartfind screen and it was staying at the top right corner. So being newbie to the Explorer I decided to put it in FE and CO digital display and the number were jumping all over the place to point that it was useless. Now I see first hand why you guys hunt in smartfind. I dug down about 12 inches and found a brass coal mining tag. In the old days coal miners would put these tags on the coal cars they filled. I have found about 50 of these in different shapes, sizes and different local coal mines. I have a nice collection, but It has been over 10 years since I last found one. What I was amazed how that little coil was able to pick it up that deep.
