I just pickedup a True Temper Planter's Buddy 7 in 1 Tool

well I went to home depot this morning and I saw this, so I picked it up. I read in an earlier post that someone has it and that its pretty good, the only thing they didn't like was how the handle flairs out. But for $15 I figured why not give it a try.

I couldn't find it on the Home Depot website, but here it is if you want to read about it:

Features & Specifications
The True Temper Planter's Buddy is a 7 in 1 multi-purpose garden tool that features an ergonomic grip for comfort and a strong stainless steel blade and is a must have in the garden! Model #2500800.

It doesn't come with a sheath, so I'm just gonna make one out of canvas. And if I don't like the handle, I will just file some of the flair off of it.

its got a bottle cap opener near the handle???

The design looks similar to the digging tool I use most of the time now. See my next post about not finding the item in a hole....I just made an interesting discovery.

Let us know how it works. You will probably find that a sheath might only be used when walking to and from the car? I put mine in my pouch for ease and quick use.

Oh, I don't have a pouch, I have been putting coins and jewlery into a ziploc bag, and poptops go in my pocket. I have to get a pouch!!!!

so really don't need another one! But that one sure looks great!!

God Bless & Happy Hunting!

Man, This thing is heavy duty, I am suprised as it is made out of almost an 8th in thick stainless steel. Yes almost 1/8" thick, more like 3/32" thick!!! And for $15... I can't wait to try it out...:hot:

sharp edges can cut thru the pockets into the leg. Here is what I did til I had a detecting pouch given to me as a gift one christmas.

There are those leather nail pouches to wear on a tool belt. Had one so used it for awhile.

There are those cheaper cloth nail pouches (2 pockets) that tie around your waist...got one at one of the places like Lowe's or Home Depot. Kept goodies in one side and trash in the other.

Even used on of those fanny packs, to carry the trash in and used my pocket for some goodies...hard to get those small cars and odd sized stuff in a pocket.

Just a couple thoughts.

think it will hold up better than the other one you looked at.

nice, I want one! I used a hunting pack for my goodie pouch. It is kinda like a fanny pack type thing except there are two pouches one on the right and one on the left. Right side is goodies, left is for trash. I carry my digger in my hand.

I bought the same True Temper hand shovel at Lowe's last year. I also bought a Corona scabbard, that the shovel fits in perfectly. The scabbard was made for hand pruners and folding saws. It has a metal clip for your belt, so it is easy to put on your belt. The manufacturer is Corona Clipper Inc. coronaclipper.com
I used both last year and they worked great. The serrated edge helps a lot cutting thru sod. This are both very good items for the money!

I just wanted to add a better hyperlink to my posting about the Corona scabbard. This should take you directly to the item on Corona's website. http://www.coronaclipper.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=cControllerFrontend.fControlFrontendCatalogDisplay The stock # is AC 4510.
They want $9.00 on the Corona site for this item. It's less then $8.00 on the Lowe's website. And they do stock it in the stores.
And thank you, Pete in MI. Hope someone could use this info. I am always looking for good honest opinions on equipment and help on using it.

my wife picked one up for me yesterday (planter buddy) and I love it! thanks for the info it was $13.86 plus tax at Home Depot
