I Love Hunting After Heavy Rains

Have taken a break of late since breaking through 100 a few weeks ago, finding a few mercs and rosie at some new places but nothing major of note. This past week we got heavy rains in our area. I have always found that a wet ground produces the best so this weekend I hit two of the old ball fields I have hit many times earlier in the year. I went over places I know I have hunted before. Not a bad haul!

Starting with the silver coins, two Washington Quarters (1943 and 1961), one Barber Dime (1913), three Mercs (1917-S, 1941 and 1942), four Rosies (1950, 1953, 1958 and 1964, yes I did ding two of them) and a sliver of a 1942 Walking Liberty Half (must of been hit by a lawn mower, looked all around but could not find the rest of it). Not counting the Walker sliver that puts me at 125 silver for the year.

Also pulled out three Indian Head pennies (1891, heavily worn, 1894 and 1902).

And for very old coins, an 1845 Large Cent and a 1805 Half Cent. I have only cleaned them thus far with water and scrubbing with a soft towel. Any suggestions on how to get them nicer or should I leave them as is?

Finally, a very heavy US Air Force Ring that appears to be 10K gold but I am having trouble reading the inscription.

Not a bad weekend at all. I have to believe these places are still holding on to what would be my first seated silver coin.
