I recently talked with Mike from VA. Beach about hunting a new site. An old mill from the 1700's, but I can't get my ExpII to settle down. Tried turning sens down to 18 and I.M.to -6. I still get high silver chirps every swing anywhere fron 3-6, but nothing consistent, the hits are all over the screen. But most far right. The ground is like black sand lots of pebbles and stones and a high iron content. It is next to a big stream. I'm digging all these signals and coming up with nothing, I'm blowing it!

Are you using a smaller coil? If not, that is part of the problem. An 8" search coil might work better and maybe a 5" would better yet. If there is that much iron in the ground, you might have to go and try using ferrous tones. Try turning the gain down to 8 or 7 also. And don't forget to noise cancel. Also, try to see which will work better for the stability of the detector, manual or semi-auto. If I think of anything else I'll post again and I hope some of what I posted helps the next time out. Also, you could try the Joey coil. Good Luck!!

Thanks for your help James. I bougtht a 5" accelerator coil when I bought Exp. I never ran into this problem, so I never tried the smaller coil. Do you lose alot of depth?
