...I have my 4th week's vacation coming up around Labor Day....Traditionally,I have been going to that Beach Club down the big D way to camp and detect-Its been in use since the late 1800's;I always find some NICE OLD coins,or jewelry there every time I go-only time I can get in there to 
is before memorial Day;or after Labor Day,cause of the crowds....I ALWAYS get to stay there for free,just need to buy a tent to camp;its only about 125 miles from my front door,a couple hours away...NOW,FOR THE DILEMMA:If all y'all didnt already know,Copper Harbor in the U.P.of Michigan is my#1 favorite place to go....I just got tires on my truck,so driving up there on unsafe tires is a non-issue now...the gas isnt an issue;I can afford that...THE DILEMMA??Its whithin spitting distance of 600 miles-EACH WAY-there and back; LONG WAY TO DRIVE...Its been almost 10 years since Ive been up there;but its my #1 example of GOD'S COUNTRY-AB-SOLUTELY GORGEOUS...Motels are reasonable,too...Ive been wanting to load my bike up on my truck and go up there to ride Brockway Mountain Drive ever since I bought it last year...Want to ride to Lake Of The Clouds,too...SO:Whatdoya think??Should I go South,and stay with tradition,or strike out and GO NORTH ????

I would say go the gorgeous scenery route, if wife says Okay, that is!
