Mat,

I say keep hunting the dry. I bet silver starts popping up. I hit a beach a while back that started producing a few wheaties in the dry. The next trip out, I popped out a Merc dime and Indian head penny. The IH was in great shape for being in the sand for so long.

Ya never know what can pop out when you start hitting wheat pennys. I know a 53' isn't that old, and it may have been in with current change, but ya never know. Especially since the wheatie you got is in great shape. To me, if it had been circulating in change for the last 50 some years, it would have been much more worn than what it is.

Good luck in the wet sand at that beach, but I still say take an hour and hunt the dry.
