some advice on a good set of headphones. I received a free set of headphones when I received the detector but the cord is to short. I do have two other Garrett headphones but hey are pretty beat-up and bad shape. Any advise on a good set of headphones with a good long cord? Thank you Jerry

Personally, I like the Gray Ghost Originals. Not only because the sound is excellent. But just as importantly, they fit my huge melon! :detecting: The size of the ear cups and the headband allow me to wear them all day without pain. :stretcher: When the padded cups got a bit hardened from perspiration and age, I simply ordered a replacement set from DetectorPro.

There are several quality headphones available and most of them will block the outside noise and perform their intended purpose. Just make sure that the ones you buy will fit you noggin! HH Randy

I have my X-Terra 50 about 2-3 months. I am right handed, so I am swinging the coil with the plug of the headphone TOWARDS me. I am NOT fat, but it seems a normal plug & cable gets too much "stress"...

So far, I have broken (have a seat, first !) 4 (FOUR !) headphones/cables. Now I ordered a R.A.T. but for my blue Maz I ordered 2 new cables with a plug in 90

I have tried many different headphones over the years trying to find the perfect set. The Timberwolfs have the best volume for me and tones on my Sovereign, but on the X-Terra I find the Sun Ray Pros or the Troy Pros do a excellent job. The Gray Ghost and the Killer bees are good too. Basically any top of the line made just for detecting are good and for the X-Terra make sure you get a set with the 90 degrees plug or you may break the plug off being the X-Terra has the jack on the side of the detector.

I have never had a problem with the headphones or with the X-Terra 50.

The most durable headphones I have even used are the Troy Pro headphones. Great audio to boot!

Thanks for the help; I will look into the headphones mentioned requiring the 90 degree connection and I also want to make sure it has a long cord. I found the headphones that came with the detector, had a very short cord and seemed like there were too much tension. Jerry from Iowa

and mine are the Gray Ghost NDT's. There are a lot of quality headphones available and all that are mentioned in this thread are great performers. It becomes a personal thing as each fit different and the sound can be different due to each persons hearing.
