Went outside this morning and did leaves with the wife. I had plans to go out today for some fun,
but it's colder then hell with the wind. Even quit doing leaves for now.
The wife said I think it's about over for you and I had to agree.
Think I'll be posting Novembers find very soon...

I hear that! Me too.

I hear it is warm with winter metal detecting in the southern part of the USA from Nov. to March. Some places in Florida, Texas, Arizona, S. Calif., and Hawaii have about 70'F (20'C) nice warm daytime temperatures in January and that is the place to be if you want to winter detect. And also there is some cheap priced real estate-houses to buy there too or just take an RV.

Getting close to being done here also. Time to do my research for the spring! HH

It gets in the 20's hear and sometimes in the teens. But when it hits the 30's for a few days and the ground thaws I am out there. Sometimes the ground ain't thawed all the way and I am out there.

Thje ground hardly ever really freezes here in central/southern New Mexico so we go all year.

With my asthma and heart surgery this year. Cold weather makes it tough.
Either way it was a great year if I go out or not.
Made it through the surgery so I get more year of having fun...

I'll be out in the relic field. As long as the ground is not frozen, I'll be there.......

Bruce,
Know what you mean! Even at 38 Degrees with sunshine, I just about freeze and can only stay out for a short while. I guess I just reconcile myself to ending the season here in the Midwest and move on to other activities and patiently (or unpatiently) wait for the Spring.
Good Luck
Chuck

What I noticed about the bypass is my chest still aches, and the cold doesn't help.
You get the feeling someone punched you in the chest bone.
The knees are good, the back is good, but you know what I'm still around, so next year will be another time.
For those who still make ti out think of me..
Because next year I'll be kicking butt.
Will be posting my November finds soon.

Sorry to hear the season is over for you Bruce... I look forward to cooler weather down in Virginia as is has been extremely hot this past summer making for some tough detecting.
As long as the ground is not snow covered or frozen, I am out digging no matter what the temperature..

I have nearly a foot and a half of snow in my front yard. Sledding hills? I don't know probably not.

ric, you know better than that. the ground around here in southeast missouri in the summer is like concrete. my season just starts around november. when the rains startup again. usless we have a real cold freeze my best hunting is in the winter. so if i find a real good spot in jan and the ground is not frozen and i try to get ahold of you, you will try and come right.

Hmmmm... I dream of a white Christmas.... but not here in Northern Australia. Hot as heck! And the wet season is here which is good as it makes grounds nice and buttery soft :bouncy:

Winter months (June-July) is good for hunting coz it's nice and cool (16-25deg C / 60-77deg F) but some grounds are a bit hard because of lack of rain. Sporting ovals and schools are still good though as they are regularly watered.

This might be a good time for you US/Canadian folks to clean coins, service machines etc.... or for the hardcore - go snow detecting!

Cheers
Snoopy
