Thur, it got up in to the 40's so I went back to the field that I have been doing so good at this year to see if I can squeak out one more good old coin. The first pass I made I found a 44d Merc and that was it for the next 3 hours besides a stinkin lincoln, lol
Fri they were saying that it was going to get up in to the 50's so I took a road trip. The first place I went to was all cleaned out. Not even any clad. the second place was just about as bad but I did find a nice clad spill of 8 quarters, a dime and a penny. I don't hunt much for clad but I never pass up a clad quarter, lol.
On my way to the next town I come across a county park that looked interesting so I stopped. It turns out that their use to be a school house there that opened in 1915.
The first thing I found was a sterling silver ring with some kind of a stone and it was in the middle of a gopher or mole run. I never pass those up either, I pulled a silver Quarter out of a gopher tunnel several years a go. the next thing I found was a tie clip and then it went dead for a long time.
now here's the bad part. with in the past few day's someone has been to this place an was MDing. I only say 4 plugs but they were a total mess, I fixed them up the best I could. Right now the ground in some places is froze up a good 3" to 4" deep and if you are not real careful about getting the plug out it will break a part. His plugs were a good foot circle and they were all broke up and he did not put all of the pieces in grass side up, what a moron.
Part of this small park had a nice size area of prairie grass and they mowed a path a round it so I checked out the pathway and that's when things got a lil better. I started to pick up a wheat here n there. I come on to a signal and I could tell that their was maybe a coin and a piece of metal there. It turned out to be a semi key date 1920 d SLQ and a bottle cap, SWEEEEEET The only bad thing is I nicked it on the edge by the #1, damn.....
Ok I go back to picking up a wheat now n then when I come on to another weird signal and it turned out to be 3 wheat's and a 1911 V nickel and that was the last old coins I found on that pathway. The while time I'm walking a round on that path I was thinking about how many old coins is in that prairie grass area. I think I am going to call the county parks Dept an ask them if they ever plan to burn off that grass because I know that prairie needs to be burned off every so many years for it to grow good.
Also on that path I found a junk ring and a old makeup tin that still had the makeup in it. when I opened it up the makeup still looked pretty good. Also on that path I found a total of 10 wheat's
My day started off kind of bad but it sure ended up being a great day for me.
