I was really wanting a 705 but found a great deal on a 505!!

I always wanted to try a Minelabs as I have a AT pro and like it. I wanted to get somthing for my son but also for me to try so we can switch machines.... Who does not like to try different detectors right :) Anyways the main question is would you be satisfied with the 505 or would ya save for the 705?
 
The cost difference from a forum sponsor isn't dramatic.

That said, if you do get a 705, be prepared to either let your son have the ATP, or get spanked by your son.

Seriously, the 705 has certain features and capabilities that the 505 does not.
Compare the two against your preferences, talk to a forum sponsor or two, and decide what fits your bill.
 
I will get the 705. I was hunting the other night and a backlight seems frivolous but does come in hand near dark. The extras you get for not much more is a huge plus. Thanks all. Very funny on the ATP verse 705 aswell :)
