I was right (ground balance)

As some of you have read I am searching for info on how to change the ground balance on my Fisher F2. It is working good but I was thinking that it would get better depth if the ground balance wasn't set so positive for my ground. Today was the 1st. day detecting in wood chips - I got a hit regisitered 7 or 8 inches deep on the display and sure enough a coin was at about 8 inches deep. Dug several at this depth. I am getting less than 6 inches in the ground. So having a ground balance that is not so positive really increased my depth. Now bring on them schematics!!! I am in total belief that being able to adjust the g.b. on the F2 would make a good detector a great detector. Steve.

are you saying to set the ground balance and then lower it for better depth. if so how much do you lower it.

No, I am saying that if I could manually adjust the ground balance to neutral or a hair positive I would gain more depth. As it came from the factory it is way too positive for my ground. As you probably know - if you lower the coil to the ground with the pinpoint button pushed in (all metal mode) and if the detector sounds off close to the ground it is at a positive setting & if you lower the coil to the ground and if it sounds off on the way back up it is negative set. What is best best is a neutral setting (no change on the down or up movement). I am not sure but think the F2 has an internal adjustment to change the ground balance but Fisher/First Texas won't tell me anything about it. Being unfamiler with the insides of Fisher detectors I am not going to try to open up the F2 and search for the right pot./trimmer. If it was a Tesoro I wouldn't think twice about doing it. Steve.

i use the t-2 and some one had said something about lowering the number for better depth.

Fisher's not going to tell you how to change the ground balance because you would be competing with the F4.
