Nice haul!!!

I used to take my kids detecting when they were young, too. They werent really into for long, as they would always see something else to do, or maybe spot a friend.
When out in the woods or quiet places, it wasnt long before I heard them say, "Is it time to go, yet?"

But my daughter did her science project one year with a metal detector. Her hypothesis? Most of the coins lost by people were pennies. She proved it fright and won a ribbon for her efforts.

It's very nice you an' your pop get out together. One day you'll remember these times fondly.

Congratulations Lazykiwi.
It looks like you're off to a great start. You can have some competitions with your dad to see who can find the most coins eta. When I go out with my son's, we take turns. The one with with the highest value at the end of the hunt is the winner. Rings can be worth more, depending on what they are made of. Lot's of fun.
I love finding those one and $2 coins as well. I found found my first Kiwi dollar a couple of weeks ago, when I went to Sydney for the long week end.
