I went shopping today to do my part to help stimulate the economy  .............

Been trying to reach Lucky's gun shop where a bought my Kimber from all week, no answer on the phone plus their web site is gone. I've been trying to buy ammo for the Kimber and set up a shooting date with Danny from Lucky's but after a week of trying I was fit to be tied.

Also, every time I go into WalMart to buy ammo they never have any, seems they don't order enough so I asked why not, I was told they can't get any, only small orders at a time even for WalMart. So I was bumm out and headed back home and tried Lucky's again but still no answer. So I got on the Internet and did a Google on the new Bass Pro Shops in Leeds Alabama, about 50 miles away and called them, I asked if they had any .45 auto ammo in stock, the lady said yes but it is going fast, I said can I give you a credit card number and will you please hold for me what you have in stock, she said I can't do that, first come first serve she said

Well I jumped in the Chevy and headed out to Bass Pro Shops and was hopeing the whole time while on the road that they would at least have one box left, well they did and in fact they had more then one so I clean them out

It wasn't cheap to say the least, $317.90 plus $31.79 in tax for a total of $349.69 but at this point I didn't care because I finally found ammo for my hand gun and would have paid more if I had to

On the way home I decided to drive 30 miles out of my way and stop by Lucky's gun shop, this is what I found, bummer, they were good guys, small town folks that love their guns and fishing, hope they open up again because I would much rather give them my business because they are like me and don't look at me as just another sale but as a neighbor and friend and I like that :yo:

While in Bass Pro Shops it was packed, had to be 300 cars in the parking lot, when I finally walked in the place it must of had 1000 people in it, it's a big big store, two stories and I must admit, I was in awe, they had everything and anything that one could ask for when it comes to hunting and fishing and anything that has to do with the out doors. While looking at the ammo and being confused at what I needed their where two hunters also looking in the same area so I asked them for a little help, they were great folks and asked me what hand gun do you have. I told them I have the Kimber Pro Carry II Stainless .45 ACP !

They spent time with me and said here ya go, use these for carry and these for Target/Range shooting, join a gun club, join the NRA which I just did, they were good guys and happy to see a old Marine get back in the saddle again

I talked to a police officer here in town yesterday and told him that I have a new hand gun and would like a lesson with it and if he knew how I could go about getting that lesson, he gave me the name of a police officer in the next town over that is a expert with weapons and is the officer in charge in training with guns and also happens to be a retired Marine :usmc: , I'll be calling him first thing Monday morning, been a long time since I fired a rifle let a lone a hand gun, even Marines need a refresher coarse after 35 years and earning a shooting expert badge, it's the smart thing for me to do ;)

Ray!

But It seemed like from what I heard there was plenty to be had to be had back East---I kind of felt bummed because it sounded like it was this area only----Well Ray I am glad you could get some ammo because its feels just like you have a car and can't buy Gas for it---I have been buying small amounts for Months to get stocked up---WHEN I can get shells for my New 45 I buy all the store will let me have---Friday I drove 40 miles because I heard a store was getting 500 boxes of 9mm well when I got there they had None at all but they said it was coming in that day SO I wait for a few hours and it did come in WELL They had a limit of 5 Boxes per person BUT Because I had called Before they came in and said I wanted X boxes I GOT THEM But that is what stores are starting to do here now so after driving for miles each time I now stocked up on of 9mm but it took me Months to do it---I don't think it will be long before ALL stores will have a Limit on how many boxes you can Buy---I would advise you to figure how many you want to have on hand and keep stocking up till you have the number you set to get---I am Replacing only what I shoot up from now on---I had not bought any shells for 10 years---Now I need to get a Few Shells for my hunting guns probably around 6 boxes of 30-30 and 30-06 and 454 now that last one will be around $50 to $60 a box---If you want to practice and save some money get a 9mm because they are only 50% as much as 45 shells---I paid $13.95 a box of 9mm Now 45 ammo is $24.95 BUT I would also advise you to get the ammo BEFORE You Buy The 9mm because then you will know you can practice shooting with out spending Hours and Miles getting ammo for it---The gun shops are telling me they expect thats in the coming months Ammo will get hard to get (As if it is not hard to get now)---They predict Ammo will be ALMOST as high as Gold and you will be able to barter for other things you need---I never thought in my Wildest dreams we would have this much problem getting Ammo---Its like getting Gas in 1973 you stand in lines to get any---I have a list of stores that Sometimes are able to get any and I called them Daily to get where I am now---MAKE YOUR PRACTICE SHOTS COUNT because you are shooting the Lone Rangers Bullets (Silver) and Sometimes they are the price of Gold---I have a Carrying Permit and I joined the NRA also because I also Predict that SOME Gun shops will only sell to NRA Card Holders if shells get harder to get as that would be a way to Help every body out---I hope you can replace what you shoot or you will soon run out--- Think about getting a 9mm for practice because of the cost of Ammo being 1/2 Price of the 45 you have now---D.W

why is everyone buying guns and ammo?Is something going to happen I don't know about? Are you the good guys or the bad guy? I got 6 months of dehydrated food packed away.[2] 55 gal.of water and 200 pounds of rice and about 20 leg hold traps and a good water purifier.Just in case something go's wrong with the country.Hand guns are fun at the range but if someone shooting back at you good luck hitting anything with it.Me I have two shotgun with full chocked. Ammo's ez to get comes in all sizes and good on the wallet. There good for shooting most things that fly or runs by.I have a few hand guns and ammo for them. But if I was under fire I'd like to have a shotgun or for long range one of my rifles with scope.

I have a berrata nemissis 22 auto I play with .ammo still easy to get , I used to pay 11.00 for a box of 500 now its 2000 but lots out there.

Some times you can find some boxes of (5) Buckshot But not many at a time do they have---You asked if WE are the Good or the Bad guys WELLLLLLLL that depends on who you talk too---If you ask me about Ray I would say he is the Good Guy and I hope if you asked him about ME he would say the same thing---You asked me if something is going to happen WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLL your guess is as good as mine---Its just that NO ONE trusts our NEW Pres. about letting us keep our Guns---As you know he is Hard core AGAINST the public keeping there guns SOOOOOOOOO every one is taking no chances in hopes we will be Grandfathered---This is NOTTTTTTTTTT something new it started as soon as he announced he was running and Maybe long before that as I did not start looking fo Guns and Ammo till then---Want to find out whats going on WELLLLLLL talk to some gun shops and see what they have to say---I know he is working on getting (what he calls) banning Assult guns that was let drop a few years ago---I wish We knew what was going to happen BUTTTTTTTTTT we don"t so your guess is as good as anyones----I would like TO HEAR What others here think is GOING ON and WILL HAPPEN then maybe I would know what to expect---I just know Pistol Ammo is harder than H#@& to get and rifle is a little better---I know Some Guns are Immopossable to buy---I have been trying to get a Springfield Armory 3 in Barrel and Black on Black in 40 S and W and there are bought up as soon as they are made---Any one KNOW What is going to happen in the Next few years Spell It Out Here And Now ???

they ever stock it again. Nothing wrong with having a good hand gun or two to go along with that good shotgun and if you lived in my neck of the woods you would know what I am talking about ;)

Less prone to things right away and they will happen on a smaller scale then large areas.

Some folks just see things a little closer and want to be prepared if they can down here in Florida where pistol sales are still sky rocketing as well as ammo sales.
CCW courses are backed up as well for months now and the Florida Dept. of Agriculture has hired more folks to process the CCW licences to keep up with the backlog now.

Florida has a STAND YOUR GROUND-SHOOT TO KILL LAW for a reason and it's not because it's a bad state it's a southern state
There are stipulations with that law and for a good reason :D but I agree with it

:D I would rather have enough food then go hungry
Id rather have enough ammo for target plinking or whatever then say oh S..T!

Walmarts down here have nothing left for ammo,I looked yesterday again when I was food shopping
There are 4 Wally world super centers right near me and NONE have any ammo...some 22cal and some odd stuff but thats all.

Whats happening in the economy is not the Y2K scare...not even close this time
This will have ripple effects for decades lasting and sure we will survive but things will change big time for most folks.

I have long range rifles, shotgun, blackpowder and of course pistols and love em like my kids

45 Ray

Gonna have some kick and feel good tho when you pull the trigger a few times :D

Same here Ray,no ammo at Wally World but luckily we have many gun shops in the area that sell ammo even tho it may cost more now
It is still available

Funny tho folks use to ask me why I had so many gunz and ammo :bouncy:

and I haven't seen it at wall mart but it seems to be in abundance at Dicks sporting goods. Don't know if there's one around yall or not.

..... all the comforts of being indoors ..... perfect temperature, clean / private / flush toilets, warm to hot shower, change of clothing in a closet or drawers instead of wadded up in a back pack, a soft bed / favorite pillow, no stinging crawling or flying bugs bothering me, When I cook out, it needs to be on my gas or charcoal grill so I can return indoors to my reclining chair until the dinner is ready.

My idea of camping is staying at a motel that is nice, perhaps ready for a remodel in a couple years. Remember folks, the cavemen were the original outdoors men, and over the years morphed into folks like me who have worked for and enjoy their creature comforts.
