I went to an old school site.

From my maps, it was there in 1920. When I go to these sites I have no idea when the school was torn down. It could have been 50 years ago or 3 years ago. I found out from a neighbor it was 3 years ago. I figure it was been MDed pretty hard. I found 5 wheat's. 1939, 1944, 1950, 19--? and 19==? 2 coins are in bad shape. I have no idea about the date. When I was heading back to the car I found my first memorial cent for the day, 1974. Half of the ground was covered in waist high grass. I will have to go back in the winter when the grass killed back. Also found a dog tag, meter tag? and some kind of thing made out of lead. It looks like it could be a kids ring. I can wrap it around my finger.
did that chinese ring come out of the ground clean like that?...it looks silver.
No, it didn't come out clean. All I did was go over it with a scotchbrite pad to bring out the detail. It hit one notch below a dime. I don't know what kind of metal it is made from. Maybe tin. I noticed some letters on the inside of the ring and took some close up pictures. It took a while, I'm slow, but it says Hong Kong. I thought it said, "Honey One". The "G" looked like the letter "e".

Most likely tin. It looks old and they used tin a lot back then. Right after WWII the Japs made toys ( lots of toy cars and such ) stamped out of all the ( steel ) beer cans left behind by our GI's. They didn't bother to paint the under side of the toys so you could still see the beer labels. I used to have a couple I found way back.
