ID Eagle

Found this little eagle in a farm field that I have found numerous Rev War & War 1812 stuff. Don't know what it is. It measures 1.25" x 1.25" and has a small hole in the bottom. Any info would be appreciated.

It looks to me like a flag pole topper, here's a picture of a new topper:

That be my guess,(top of flagpole). Flagbearer during what war? revolution or civil? Don't know.
