ID Excel and gold? How good is the Excel in finding gold rings?I may confused, but it appears to be set up for coins only!

Jim,
I am an absolute novice with the C$. I haven't logged 10 hours on mine yet. However, the very first find that I got with the C$ was a 10K class ring. I hunted that same area with a Garrett Master Hunter and a Bounty Hunter and never even got a faint signal there with the other detectors.

I've already found some small gold and a "State Championship" ring with the Excel. Yes sir, The Excel will just very nicely.

The Excel doesn't have the big "pie chart" like the C$ & Yes, basically it is written for modern coinshooting scituations pretty much (showing tabs/nickels/etc. It's just a guide...that's all. Some of us make our own "menus" for the top of the box. But, diggin' anything positive you won't go wrong. Small gold will be in the single digits, on up. Dependant upon size, depth, etc. Unfortunately I can't think of any gold finds with mine yet But I'm more of a relic hunter...HH, Bill

Hey Jim, where are you going to use the ID? Mine had trouble in wet sand. In dry sand, it found a small 10k gold ring that I posted earlier. Rang in at about a +3. I run it 0 disc and about 7 sens and love it as much as the coinstrike.

I'm not near a beach and probably won't ever be near one.I will be detecting in highly mineralized soil.
