ID excel pinpoint HELP!

New member
HI, I just had my excel out and the pinpoint feature isnt working, I mean it will sound a tone and locate, zero in, but it display 00 , regardles of depth. I tried throwing a quarter down and pinpointing it, same thing, audio but no numerical readout, just 00. It tested in my house perfect. No rain no dust, I disassemled it and wiped it all down took the batts out and put new ones in, still the same thing. Any ideas? :sadwalk:

I would try it again before you send it in. Maybe there was a glitch there, but I can't recall ever seeing it on mine....
If it keeps doing it that means it need a trip back to the "Labs"..

wow thats strange never ever happened to my id-excel mitch need service .thanks paul (sasquache)

Will a few water drops make it do this? I'm gonna mess with it this week and see what happens. The manual says use a hair dryer on it so maybe I'll try that. thanks fellas

I don't own an ID Excel or Edge... but if it's an electronic glitch, one can remove the battery pack from an item (camera, computer, etc.) and keep it out for about 20 minutes or more and the manual programming will reset to it's factory preset settings?

Hope this helps?

Hey I'll try that thanks. It also has started overloading and when I take it back in the house its like stuck on overload for a while. I'll turn it off then on and it just stays overloaded. But after a couple of hours it will be ok again. I just hate to send it back with the weather gettting nice and all. But I may have to.

HI wow so thats what it looks like inside huh. I called fisher and they said send it in so I did. Thanks for the great info and pics thats cool to see the inside. Its started doing some other crazy things so somethings maybe wrong with it so I decided to let them look at it. Thanks, thats good to know for when i get it back.

Yeah it is a simple fix. Just put some black silicone on the bottom of the faceplate at the "bleeder" opening.
